I assume I finish your turn and then take mine normally?

Hoo boy. Pressure's on for me.

Anyway I'll get on this tonight, should make my first post tonight or tomorrow.

Oh, wait, where's the current save at? Sorry if it's right under my nose and I'm missing it.
If someone has their turn skipped generally the next player uses the save from before the skipped person's turn.
So you would use mine.
And don't kill me this time.

It's probably made from baby bone, with a handle of baby leather. Probably uses the leg bones wound together for the handle, the pelvis for the handle/pick joint, and the pick is the spine.

But that's all in theory, of course. Not like I've made a pick out of my own 5 month old baby before.

I didn't know if the policy was different because Imiknorris actually did quite a bit of work on the fortress. Over half a years' work. Seems a shame to cancel out his influence on the fort because of things beyond his control.

Eh, I wasn't able to work on it tonight anyway, too busy. If Imiknorris has what he has done so far uploaded by around 7:00 PM GMT-ish, I'll continue that, otherwise I'll rollback.

Sounds about right. I'm running on EST, it's midnight now, I've got college courses and work that take up all of my morning and a bit of my afternoon.

I'm aiming to get my turn done beginning at 3:30-4 PM EST. I'm not sure if I (sadly) botched my conversion to GMT, but there you go.

Fwoop.

All of creation is sucked into a horrifying, yawning dimensional fold.

Above the screeching, tearing sound of superstrings breaking, and several dimensions deciding they had better places to be, a demonic howl ingrained itself into the soul of all formerly sentient beings in this new plum pudding of chaos. If this sound was to be played roughly 1,337 times faster, one could make out the word "SAVESCUM".

poowF.

Just as quickly as it began, everything reversed, and every particle in creation was instantly slammed back into its original position and velocity as it was several months beforehand.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------

1st Granite, 1052

So I'm just farming and whatnot, you know, working for the survival of us all, when the big bossman Fivex shows up and dumps a huge pile of papers on me, telling me "You're up, man". Wow. Fine. Guess that means I'm in charge, now. Muhahahahahahaha!

Alright, let's see what we have here.
Bedrooms are being carved, out, alright... Mining operations are going smoothly, it appears... stockpile area... some sort of attempt to dig through the river, appears to have been called off (probably wisely, this river is friggin' huge).

I suppose the only thing for it is to expand.

7th Granite

Awww... Fivex and Duriel got married. I promised myself I wouldn't cry.

On a different note, I'm making another mason's workshop down in the mines for the purposes of blockmaking. It just makes sense.

12th Granite

Friggin Macaques, go away. Stop stealing our stuff.

21st Granite, 1052

We just got a metric shitton of migrants.

Hope they make it across before that ice thaws.

12th Slate

What the... No beds? Why not? Those bedrooms will take forever to carve... in the meantime, people shall sleep in the farming grotto. SO I DECREE.

23rd Slate

Good god, there's a ton of animals around. We need a butcher, or at least some cages.

1st Felsite

Duriel's got a strange, faraway look in his eye... odd. Well, as long as he doesn't beat anyone to death with their own limbs, whatever.

Me, I'm feeling great doing something other than farming. I really like this "construction" business.

11th Felsite

I see we have a miniscule little tunnel dug under the river to let migrants through.

This is unacceptable! We need something much grander to showcase the might of Granitepartners! A mighty bridge, spanning the river, wide enough to let even the best trading caravans across! A project to last the ages!

4th Hematite

Oh, hey! Traders! Alright, Urist Imiknorris, do your thing.

...

Goddamn elves.

Anyway, I've just finished plans for my prject. It's gonna be great!

13th Galena

Must finish the project project must build project finish must the project is key build must finish must must the project

bridge bridge to finish bridge to the mind bridge to the soul bridge across troubled bridges bridge bridge spanning space bridgeidges bridges corpse bridge

17th Galena

duriel died of thirst bridges he will become of the bridge ha ha melancholy was duriel couldnt find a platinum nugget poor duriel haha will build a tomb shaped like bridge yes duriel will rest in piece

13? limes

nother dawrf makin somethin not as good as mine ha ha

bridge of granitepartners bridge better

sometime in timber

im starting to feel a little better now that the project is almost complete

Kaguro made a platinum amulet. its very nice. worth almost 100 000 dwarfbucks.

20th Obsidian, 1052

HAHA! My bridge is finally complete! And not a momen...

Oh god what happened? I can't remember anything!

Wow it's kind of a mess around here.

Uh... clearly I'm meant to just stay a farmer... although I do really like my bridge.

I'll just dig out a cozy little tomb for myself and call it a career.

1st Granite

Tomb's done.

I can't handle the stress of having so many souls under my care. I found out yesterday that a couple of dwarves died under my rule. I'm horrified at my own gross negligence. I'm going to leave these files and notes on the ground here, hopefully the next person to take up the job is better suited than I.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

-------------------------------------------------------------------

Here's the save: http://dffd.wimbli.com/file.php?id=3224

Oh and Duriel... I truly apologize for your dwarf getting depressed and starving to death. I really tried to give him what he wanted, he basically refused every metal I offered. It was only after he died that I noticed we also had some platinum ore somewhere... sorry :'(

I think I'll move this to 31.16. Is this OK?

Yes.
Because that is what we were probably using last turn.
Or .14

Ironhands. That was hat I was using
with the added biscuit reaction/llama?
cos then there will be fun if the save has rewritten the raws to the originals (31.12 does this ime, not sure about the others)

I think we ought to be safe enough, I didn't see any llamas in my turn and I don't think I even built a kitchen so we shouldn't need to worry about doom biscuits.

I don't know anything about modified raws, though, as I play on the most vanilla vanilla ascii DF.

The only thing I noticed that was different than what I would consider "typical" dwarf fortress was that the dwarves' symbol was an @ (kind of offputting; at first glance I saw &, which caused me to panic briefly) instead of the usual ☺/☻ and I believe the plump helmets were represented with an î instead of ♠, so I think something must have been changed, hopefully it's only as benign as that.

Oh, and the trees and plants were brightly colored and highlighted to make them stick out on the green grass, which was pretty awesome. I kind of want to keep that feature.

On the other hand, horrible physics-breaking catastrophes make great storytelling.
