I'll do my action later, but ... you're inventing the notion of gods for our spirit-worshipers?

i used gods as a general term for the Power That Be. But I AM going to put some structuring into the Police force, one thing I'm doing is making them to a higher power, so it needed a name

Hmm... do we actually have Wooden boats built? it's had to keep track of who has what...
Waitaminute, didn't Oleb say something about ticks and V's and stars? but you'd have to draw in the sand, and if someone steps on it all your counting is lost...

OH DEAR SPIRITS, THE HARVEST! how can we go and take farmers from the fields when we still need to bring in the food?!

work on something to write on that is more permanent than sand. like, clay tablets? we can build clay statues, tablets should be easy!

Character
Name: Al'akif
Gender: Male
Profession: Trader

Family Tree

Code: [Select]
Harad----Maysa
         |
    Al'akif---Desra

Actions: Al'akif submits a petition made up of the majority of river traders that he should be allowed to join the nobility as their representative.

“Honored members of the nobility. I come here today on behalf of a group of villagers that feels they are due! We call ourselves Traders or Merchants, or more informally, River Rats…and it is we who ford the dangerous rivers ferrying goods.  Till now, we have been neglected-not due to intentional actions, but the fact that no one has been elected to the position. I therefore, nominate myself! With the support of my fellow villagers, I strongly urge the nobility to allow me to join its ranks and provide the voice for a new generation of explorers and tradesmen!
(this is met with scattered applause)

OOC: I saw a new profession and decided to go ahead and join! Assuming I didn't jump the gun that is...lol

((Diakron, please change your wording. Themis is clearly a 'higher' spirit that is obsessed with the concept of justice, not a god.))

Oleb preached to the new police force, along with several civilians who were nearby. "Recently, more murders and ... attempted murders ..." He glared at one particular man, who had been in on the anti-Oleb mob. The man looked down. "Which, fortunately, failed, and have been forgiven. One of the higher spirits, Themis, is upset that justice has not been being done. You are the first that are to be tasked with carrying out his will. Remember always that your goal is justice, to see that those who commit wrongs are brought before the General Consensus to determine who is wrong. Such is your duty: Do it well, and may the spirits guide you."

I will give Diakron's police force the blessing of the spirits, raising their morale (And, hopefully, dividing their loyalties more towards the nobility overall. No need to have one player carry the burden of being completely in charge of our only pseudo-military force. Not that Diakron would abuse his power, of course).

I'll build a altar to Corny, spirit of the fields and crop in my house. Then spend the turn trying to increase the size of my holding and to get irrigation in my fields.

Also, my second son shall be a trader, and use my Land-boat to carry wheat and beer for trade.

Fine, submit your character.

Actions: Al'akif submits a petition made up of the majority of river traders that he should be allowed on the council as their representative.

There is no council anymore. There's only the General Consesus, and the Nobility. The Nobility is the sucessor to the council, if that is what you want.

I knew I messed up *somewhere*. I've edited my actions, for that is what I want.

A) Spiritualism DOES allow gods to exist, look at Native American (of which i am one)

B) there are a grand total of TWO (2, II) traders in the village... and only 2 Builders (My son and the new guy) so both have to do something fan-damn-tastic to be consider to join, the rest of use where the richest people in the village or the most skilled in our trade.

C) this is NOT going to be a military, nor will it be a religious force it answer to the Council with me the temporary  leader, when the village gets bigger and they have more members, we will allow them to control themselves (think of them as the Royal Guards for now :D )
