Well, you agree than some tasks -tending the fields, or crafting- need some permanent manpower. What would we do if someone decide that the whole village shall build a wall for 2 seasons, neglecting food production?

I generally support it, but not this turn. I, forgetting about doubtlessly important, yet ultimately self-serving things I already had planned, have come up with a much more useful idea.

I'll use my new counting system to determine how much food we produce each year, along with how much the average person eats in a year.

I fully support the idea of divided workforce, but with the exception that during times of harvest, when extra hands are needed, the split-up workforce will support as needed.

I hope that takes into account that we have only two harvests, one for every two seasons.

I don't recall ever learning how many farmers we need. With my superior administrative team (coming soon), we will know exactly how many farmers are needed. Then the rest of you can do what needs doing. I'll be over here, doing what nobody likes, since everybody wants to kill poor Oleb anyway.

We know farmer productivity (I guess it means how many food/turn they produce.) So we can compute that already.

Turns:

Ronald "Plump of Helmets" (Blackdutchie): Create clay tablets. Organize a scouting party along the west coast with Al'akif. Wooden boats will be used, and bows/arrows will be brought.

Ochita (Ochita): DONE

Diakron (Diakron): DONE

Oleb I (Nirur Torir): Determine how much farmers are needed for each harvest season, and make a administrative team.

Sheb (Sheb): Improve the farm. Send your son out to trade. Propose that each member of the Nobility be granted full control over an area of the government, with a quota of workers for each member.

Al'akif (Dwarmin): Petition the traders that you should join the nobility. It looks like you are already on it. Organize a scouting party along the west coast with Ronald. Wooden boats will be used, and bows/arrows will be brought. (Also, as far as I can tell, Ronald is the only hunter in the village.) Recruit some men to be hunters. Propose the emergency draft.

Perkwunos (Dwarf): Build a wall. (Brick was what was used, look up the gate of Istar if you don't believe me.)

I'm sure I missed something. Tell me if I did. (Especially proposals.)

Well if brick is ok, go for brick then.

Brick wasn't used for village with less than 300 inhabitants. It's time-consuming and we should wait until we grow a bit more.

(Sorry this is taking so long, I've been a bit too busy to work on this. However, you'll probably want this next bit of information now, rather than after the update.)

MINI-UPDATE:

Oleb I (Nirur Torir):
For a population of 200, with the techniques of food production you have now, would require a minimum 100 farmers to produce food. However, it would be a good idea to have more farmers producing, incase of drought, and to use for trade. Right, now to start work on an administrative team.

EDIT:

Sheb (Sheb):
You decide that each member of the nobility should be given control over a certain area of the government, and a quota of villagers to help. (6) However, when you debate this with the Nobility, some of the villagers overhear, and somehow believe that you want the power of the nobility to be consentrated into one person. (4) The villagers like this idea, and soon the village is filled with roaming bands of men, who try to rally support for their choosen member of the Nobility. When you try to tell the villagers that they misheard you, they argue about the merits of such an idea. Clearly, the Nobility has to do something quick.

Clearly, we need a complex system where one person has obvious power over the other branches and has a veto power, but technically can easily be voted down and replaced by the other nobles. If I'm in charge of the administration, it would make sense for me to be the one in charge of the overall day-to-day workings of the city.

Other positions:
Head of Crafts
Head of Diplomacy and Internal Justice
Head of Farmers
Head of Military

I say that in the long run, we have 70% of the people farming. This leaves 5% under each of us, save for the 10% in the military.

Ochita was in the conversation when the villagers wanted to have only one person on the nobility. Sighing he decided to try something. He told his plan, One of us was to become the 'Main' noble and the rest would work from the shadows.

Al'akif was also interested in the proceedings. One Ruler, now? He wondered if anyone would contend Nirur's claim...

To Ochita, he said "Well, for your plan to work, we would need safeguards."

Al'kif proposes the following system and appointments

Head of Labor (The Steady Hand), responsible for crafters and crafting in general. Decides what and how much to trade In conjunction with head of Exploration. Appointed to Ochita Or Diakron, pending noble vote!

Head of Exploration (Far Seeing Eye), responsible for forestry, hunting, exploring, the physical portion of large trading missions and diplomacy. Appointed to Al'Akif

Head of Agriculture (Life Giver), responsible for all things farming, as well as fishing. Also responsible for the general health of the village. Appointed to Sheb

Head of Security (Lord of Wolves), responsible for the overseeing and training the village's defense force, as well as keeping peace and administering justice.  Has the most important responsibility of being able to remove a noble by force, if absolutely required. Appointed to Ronald

ead of Spirituality (The Herald), responsible for all matters of religion and interpreting Omens,  well as Appointed to Oleb –unless he gets chief

Head of Construction (The Strong Hand), responsible for all matters related to building, AND the procuring of these supplies, for boh his building and the crafters. Appointed to Perkwunos.

And of course, Village Chief ______-who can appoint anything, or direct our actions as he wants, but cannot overrule a noble without a majority vote.

On the account of power, it’s not too hard to balance. If it comes down to a vote on an issue, The Chief counts  for 2, the person whose position is affected by it is worth 3, and everyone else is worth 1. The chief can be removed anytime by a 2/3 majority of the ruling nobility voting in favor of his dismissal
On the account of village chief, I of course vote for Nirur..
