Glad to see that everyone is putting such thought into this.

Are you making up stuff as you go, or would you mind ever writing the ruleset out in a document or something?

I have a program, but it is not fully done yet. I'm stuck on the demand part of supply and demand. (Supply is easy, number of craftsmen*productivity, and then into another program to figure out how much of everything is made.) Anybody have ideas on how to model demand?

Scout along the river (opposite direction of the mountains (South, it looks like)), but ask Diakron for some spears first.

You already know when the south end of the river ends up, into the large body of water that lies to the west of the village.

See the hex that the red arrow is pointing at? That's where the river empties. The only way to explore the river would be to head north, towards the mountains.

We don't even have working carts.

Your land-boat is a cart. Do you want everyone to start calling it a cart, to prevent future mix-ups?

I wouldn't call it working if oxen are strangling themselves trying to pull it >.>

List of everyone's actions:

Diakron: Make spears, help invent quern. Give some spears to Ronald.

Blackdutchie: Get spears from Diakron. Scout the river.

Sheb: Make a government and a better legal system.

Ochita: Invent quern. Improve judgement system. (Also, could you elaborate on your mini-update idea?)

Nirur Torir: Invent numerial system. (A base system will have to come latter.)

They don't have anything better. As long as you make sure they don't strangle themselves, it works. Not as effectively as it could, though.

Basically you just say what things were used such as murder weapon, possible reasons and witness. THen the prosetucter and defendant say their parts and we see how the trial goes out with using dice rolls. Evidence that works gives a plus to that roll and unsavory evidence gets a minus, people do know when people are lieing...

Got it. (Mind you, I won't do it for every crime that happens. Too much work. I'll only do it for the important crimes.)

(You could have people consume X number of goods Y per turn. In the case of luxuries, have them slowly become addicted to them, lessening their impact over time (To a fairly small minimum amount). As old luxuries become common 'essentials' (Like TVs), more luxury types must be sought out to maintain great morale. Cutting off a luxury they've grown accustomed to would have a sharp negative impact, while a new luxury would only have a very slight impact.

I'm not sure how to decide the rate of consumption.

If I can forget that my squad needs spears, then certainly my subordinates could forget a lot more. I vote against more power to the citizens, unless they are in some way found sane first.

I say we govern our city this way:

Using a two tier System, Tier one is the General Consensus, 5% of the population representing the workers proportionally. in this case 89% farmer, 11% craftsman. They act as the Judicial system, all man are brought before them and judge by the book. this is held by Open voting; any person not otherwise restricted my vote. They can also petition the Ruler directly.

Tier Two is a system of 'Nobility', namely us. we decide the policies, plan improvement, allocate resources, command the armies, scouts, and hunting parties; and decide on laws. A 4/5th votes by the current members can induct new members. Every 20 turns we elect a Ruler from the Nobles. The Ruler is in ultimate charge of policies and may make mandates. The nobles must take an oath the better the People. If a noble is found trying to improve his or her own person, they are put on a joint trial of both the Consensus and the Nobility to judge if they should be stripped of their privileges.

The problem would be making an algorthim that figures out the rate of consumption based on the value of the good. After that, I'll just follow what you have suggested.

Just manually set it's proportion of consumption to population for each item then. For example, dyes are consumable, and therefore used up much faster then pearls.

Perhaps three rates of consumption? Something like .25, .50, and 1.00 per population. Dyes and luxury foods would be 1.0, furniture made from exotic wood would be .50, and pearls would be .25.

I'd settle for this, I suppose. Perhaps they just need a small group in the trial to get it right.

I'll think about it. I'll probably add a random element to it as well.

well, we have to set up Judicial law, the rules and such that govern the courts. If we want to make it so that 7 people sit around and play poker to decide the mans fate.

Maybe one of us should head the Consensus, that way it has players have interaction there.
