Ok. now that's done I need to find a way to kill the FB while on the surface.

Is it just me, or did my problems just get more complicated...?
Wait ... the FB is on the surface already, or you are ready to unleash him onto the steel using kobold hordes?

If he can't fly ... dig a pit, hook up a lever to the support, wall yourself out of said pit, and when the FB is over the trap, drop him and the ground he's standing on into the pit.  Then feed elven caravans invaders to him to keep him (and you) happy.

As for the complication ... this is DF.  If it wasn't complicated, you either missed something import, are doing it wrong ... or both. :D

You should be able to get some trees after breaching the caverns if steel becomes mission-critical.

Unfortunately... the shaft I dug earlier connects the first cavern with the surface, and that FB roaming around moves quite fast, at least faster than my dwarves. And yes, the FB is already on the surface. It has massacred all kobolds and goblins still in the area. And the new migrant wave stupid enough to come to this deathtrap. 7 waves have been lost already, so why are they still coming? Isn't the smell of rotting corpses warning enough? Maybe they're political criminals or exiles or something.

Anyways, the current situation is now kobold-free. I guess I can stop making bronze armor for now. But I think that's NOT good news. I still don't have safe access to the area directly above the pit where I have to build my scaffolding on, and mining down is also unsafe until I wall in a larger area for my miners.

Thank Armok that FB doesn't fly.

If you wait long enough, the kobold army might take out that pesky FB for you. :D

In fact, they just did.
The FB is dead. I didn't even know it was dead until I looked into the creatures list.
All the kobolds are dieing too, from the deadly secretions...

Ah, I love hearing stories where two problems solve each other for you.

I just realized two things. 1. For the Win and F___ the World have the same initials. 2. They have the same meaning in Dwarf Fortress.

Quick! Run outside and gather up all the steel/iron/bronze weapons and equipment before more "friends" show up to join the party!   :D

I have been in the area for 6 dwarf years now and I've yet to see a single raindrop. It snows all the time in Autumn and Winter, though.

In DF, any problem is known to have an implied solution of "Magma"
