See that triangle inside of the little pentagon?  It has area 1, and is in proportion p with one of the big triangles (like ACD).

What do you get when you cross a mosquito with a mountain climber?

You can't!  The mountain climber is a scalar :D

That's a classic.

(I suppose the mosquito is a vector as well.)

Oh, the number of places I could take those sentences that would get me kicked off the forums.

One final batch of questions I need a bit of help with, I'm afraid:

Spoiler: one about limits (click to show/hide)

L'Hôpital's rule. Whenever you have a limit that equals 0/0 or ±∞/±∞, lim(f(x)/g(x)) = lim(f'(x)/g'(x)).

I love the way you need two completely separate bits of knowledge to make this joke work.

Although I think I'm immune to these now due to my teacher's spontaneous terrible maths puns.  And occasional bizarre questions ("If a student of mass 120kg is lying on a table covered in treacle, and the friction coefficient is 0.5, what angle cam the table be tipped to before he slides off?").

That's the kind of teacher I want to be someday.
