Pull out the rope you conveniently took with you after escaping the ledge of death and use that to climb over the cave.

But check if its actually soot first. no point trying to headbutt obsidian or something more solid.

That cave is solid rock, you probably don't want to slam your head into that.
You go back to where you started and get the rope. You then use that rope to climb over the cave!
You put your rope into your super-secret-space-that-you-can-access-any-time-but-no-one-can-ever-know-about.
