Axes: how do they work?
« on: September 25, 2010, 10:06:40 pm »

I'm trying to make hatchets specifically for woodcutting, but with weapon capabilities (like picks) to avoid the whole problem over battleaxes for military and civilian use. I just need to know: what is it that makes battleaxes usable for woodcutting?

You could still make a new axe type, and then just not have your military use it.

Maybe give it a crappier edge and be smaller.

I would assume woodcutters dropping their axes when drafted.

You could always try [SKILL:WOODCUTTING].

Never used Dwarf Therapist, mods or tilesets in all the years I've been playing.
I think Toady's confusing interface better simulates the experience of a bunch of disorganised drunken dwarves running a fort.

that means the weapon will use the skill woodcutting for fighting, but its hardcoded to look for axe skill for actual woodcutting

"Elves!? Their men dont wear beards, and their women bathe nacked to lure you into the water and drown you. Thank Angrosh they are as ugly as the day and all big and skinny."
