Generating a wet world with large inland lakes
« on: September 25, 2010, 03:03:06 pm »

I've created about a dozen worlds but I can't seem to figure out how to do this. Is it possible to get large inland water masses that don't count as ocean? I ask mostly because I don't want waves to go all & on my FPS (as my computer is a piece of crap.)

I'm setting max drainage low and minimum rainfall high, but beyond that I don't really change any parameters.

Large regions often have lakes.

You need a bunch of "Low Elevation" regions, you might also try using meshes.

It won't control where the oceans, seas, & lakes appear, but it should lead to more of them.

Probably also helps to set rivers to maximum (800).

I've found lakes to be more common when elevation is set quite high. At low elevation you get oceans instead. Set drainage high and lower the variance for elevation and drainage respectively.

Yeah it is likely that you need elevation above "sea level".
