Inquisition Alertness: 40 (Contact with Chaos)
Cult of Sollex Attention: 15 (Mechanicus Member from Calixis Sector, Contact with Chaos)
Empyric Engineers Attention: 20 ( Mechanicus Member from Calixis Sector, Contact with Chaos)

Um.

Chaos Undivided (-1): doesnt care

The attention doesnt necessarily mean something good, it only shows whether the faction is inclined to come into contact with you or not.

In your example:

due to your fight against cultists you came into contact with Chaos, for the Inquisition it doesnt matter whether you killed him or whether you helped him. The point is YOU came into contact with Chaos and that means you might be corrupted....

The Cult of Sollex are a highly fanatic Order of Mechanicus Members which are often used by the Inquisition. They always search members of the Mechanicus(and also out of the Calixis Sector) which are brave enough to directly fight Chaos. In their case a higher attention means momentarily that they will send an envoy who might ask you to join them....

The Empyric Engineers however are a Technoheretic Group which uses all kinds of forbidden Fields of Research. Their attetion could have a good side and a bad side. Either they will make an entry as enemy if you make rather more pro-imperial decisions or if you tend to be unorthodox and not so pro-imperial, they might try to corrupt you. The -1 with Chaos Undivided is due to your shooting an cultist...

Turned into a servitor for the next player to use is my bet on your fate.
Or for me to use, that'd be even funnier.

i just made several up...if you know any real(read: canon) ones feel free to tell them because i couldnt find much about the rituals of the Adeptus Mechanicus, and using sacred oils to calm the Machine Spirit/stop it from squealing sounded somehow...as an appropiate Ritual for new Adeptus Mechanicus Members...

@ maxi caxi: i immediately start removing them...

EDIT: general rule of thumb any NON-corrupted engines are listed in GREEN...everything in another colour is not a machine...

Edit2: there will be several more and not so easy rituals, in some the Magos might not take part and in some YOU are not supposed to take part...if you pass those rituals you have official learned the Universal Laws of the Adeptus Mechanicus and are a member from there on...AKA that whole thing is just to get you warmed up...if it gets too long and tedious for you just tell me and we skip it, although i have several mean things prepared  8)

Edit3: if you fail this first ritual or do it another way, you will not die or have heavy drawbacks, it will just change several things in your affiliations...read: failing´or shortcutting means better points with more progressive groups/ worse affiliations with conservative groups. Successing in it will change nothing. Those few points may however heavily change thegame for you... :P

and the next ritual is coming up...

Lets see what you do about that...those who paid attention to my descriptions of the hall might get a giant Bonus. On the other hand, those of true faith may loose some Inquisitional Attention...
