[FIXED]01.10.2010 | 21:46Been modding for a few hours, since I got back, and it's been fun. I've made
magical weapons... ie, dangerous normal weapons with longer "description" text. (ie, Neonni
uses magic to let out an almighty force against Monster_X with a force orb!
The Neonni use these "orbs" to let out certain magic. There are cutter orbs, which cut deeply into the enemy's skin, force orbs, that let out a massive blunt force, 99% of the time breaking the bone. Propulsion Orb and their ammo, magic stones, are the projectile weapons.
Then there is the master staff and apprentice staff, which I was hoping to caste-tise between the noble positions.
Mining orbs, Lumber orbs; used to cut trees and mine stone, because the Neonni are far too weak for such manual work.
They have
no armour, and instead rely on their magical weapons and deathly poison.
Sadly, in the history, the Likes_Fighting Maikoke (Gargantuan) tribes decimated the Neonni (Medium) in every battle!
01.10.2010 | 11:49This morning, I've been playing with syndromes for our resident Neonni species. They're weak in strength and toughness, but they have a wicked bite and a lesser version of their venom in their scratch - and, when attacked, their blood also contains the syndrome upon splattering.
After faffing around for about a half hour trying to get through a vital piece that the tutorial I was reading messed up, now corrected, the venom began working.
fyi: At one point, the Neonni were injecting MAGMA. Funny shit.30.09.2010 | 22:44After completing the Wetland trees/plants and going to the embark screen, oddly, only a few random of the trees showed up, and less so an option of drink/seeds from the plants. I wonder if sometimes flora gets killed off into extinction during generation?
Anywho, I'm off to bed now. Early start tomorrow.
30.09.2010 | 21:52- Tested new trees, all looks fine.
- Next flora biome.
30.09.2010 | 21:29- Completed Achai and Andei plant.
- Beginning remaining "desert" trees;
Atheo, Eltooup, Ettee, Ishie.
30.09.2010 | 21:12"Mountain" plants are now "any_desert" plants, due to them not spawning on the mountain-range directly (Makes sense...)
Andei worked perfectly, but they take a little time to grow, so I'm going to increase their value.
Achai didn't work as well. They're basically copy-pasta'd Plump Helmets and stats changed for abovegrounded-ness and name/tile changes. But they were unedible.
Both should be easy fixes.
30.09.2010 | 20:34We may have a Changeling problem.
fyi: Folklore says that "Changelings" were troll/faerie children switched with human children to diversify the bloodline. Or something.Anywho. The new plants don't seem to be showing up on embark, going to embark in the mountains and see if I can gather some, to see if they're being generated at all.
30.09.2010 | 20:09- Completed first plant, "Achai Vegetable / Achai Seed / Achai Ale"
- Testing Achai Vegetable.
30.09.2010 | 18:47I've green'd out the Ghul Species and the mountain fauna for the first release (0.2). I need to add all the appropriate power placements for the Ghul to make them fully playable in Civ and to varify the Religion Spheres. They all seem to be about nature right now, which is quite odd.
Nethertheless, going to roll on with the next biome of fauna next, or I might have a noodles at the Mountain flora and work my way down that way.
Either way, need a break, first.
30.09.2010 | 16:59On a second test with the military, my fisherman went insane after having to be forced to talk to the Anarch. Then my Witchdoctor went berserk because he was upset after being shouted after an "Unhappy citizen", ie, the berserk fisherman.
30.09.2010 | 16:27After hours of bugfinding, I've made the Maikoke_Civ playable in DF! After a little tweaking for fair-play, they're quite fun to play with. No farming, no digging. Wooden axes for cutting trees down and relying on hunter-gatherer technology to survive. Meanwhile acomodating to the Anarch and Witchdoctor's commands.
30.09.2010 | 12:18- Created first "Tribal" species, [MAIKOKE_CIV].
- Beginning Fortress Mode with Maikoke.
"Tribal" species are basically small civilizations with basic knowledge in current technology. No mining, no gems, no metal, no soap, etc. They have God-figures for Monarchs, Anarchs for mayor/expedition leaders, witchdoctors for religion and medical and witchdoctor apprentices for bookkeeping/managing/extra medical.
30.09.2010 | 11:06- Created Maiden creature.
- Successfully tested Maiden creature.
- Successfully implimented iron "Skin" and "bone".
5 (small) Maiden VS 1 (Gargantuan) Maikoke
Length: 150 Pages
Death kill: Maiden 6 bit the Maikoke in the fourth tentacle, but it looks like he bled to death from the 100+ pages of beatings regardless.
Damage Taken: Maiden 7; First Tentacle is gone. Maiden 5; Second Tentacle is gone.
The Maiden have skin and bone of iron and quite the bite.
It started with a flash of fire from the Maikoke, envelopping the Maiden before the two forces collided.
Maikoke got some cheap shots in, tearing a couple of tentacles off, but the Maiden eventually bit him and wrestled him to the floor with their four tentacles each.
By page 50, they were still tearing away his muscle and fat using their tentacles - a testament to the Maikoke's size!
On page 150, Maikoke bled to death.
To note: For some reason, somebody was bleeding water. Very odd.
28.09.2010 | 22:20- Fixed a number of Ghul-related bugs.
- Added the Headplate to the Ghul anatomy.
- Changed Ghul settlements from Mountainhomes to Cities.
So, in adventure, I went to a few settlements. Couldn't find a quest-giver, not even in the capital, so I decided to kill a few Ghul for excitement.
Two notable kills, and one other kill is on my record; all three are ghul! One doesn't have a name, apparently. And, the guys didnt attack me.
Of course, I'm narrowing all this down to the fact Toady's revamping the Adventure mode right now.
Still a bug with the world sometimes generating with blank names, but its likely because I still have four empty language files!
28.09.2010 | 20:32- Meacisi creature completed - it's quite tough! But, mind, it is Huge size tagged.
I think that'll do for tonight... Nah. I'm going to finish the Ghul and play a little with them, see what comes up in World Gen.
28.09.2010 | 19:37- Maikoke completed and tested.
- Beginning Meacisi creature.
Test 1
Maikoke VS Troll
Length: 2 Pages
Death kill: Maikoke bit the Troll in the upper body (first time), causing the severing of the heart's artery.
Damage Taken: None.
Test 2
Maikoke VS Dragon
Length: 4 Pages
Death Kill: Repeated Motor Nerve severation, right kidney bruise
Damage Taken: Left and Right arms; fat completely gone. Burns, melts, hemorhaging, cuts.
(I accidentally spawned another Dragon which killed off the near-dead Maikoke)
Test 3
Dragon VS fully adamantine armoured/armed Steir
Length: 124 Pages
Death Kill: Slash to left rear foot, severed.
Damage Taken: Left thumb, removed.
Test 4
fully adamantine armoured/armed Maikoke VS fully adamantine armoured/armed Steir
Length: 5
Death Kill: Slash to second tentacle, severed.
Damage Taken: None.
(This guy is godly...)
Test 5
fully adamantine armoured/armed Maikoke VS 4 unarmed/unarmoured Steir
Length: 6 Pages
Death Kill: Steir 6; Bled out. Steir 8; Collision. Steir 7; slash to lower body, severed. Steir 9; Slash to upper body, liver artery.
Damage Taken: Bruise; fourth tentacle.
Test 6
fully adamantine armoured/armed Steir VS 4 iron-armed/armoured Steir
Length: 20 Pages
Death Kill: Stab to sixth tentacle.
Damage Taken: Steir 11; upper body cut open, liver is broken.
From these tests, I conclude that the Maikoke relies being able to attack directly to the body. Armour seems to be rather effective against them.
One new creature down, ...alot more... to go.
28.09.2010 | 18:44After alot of bugtesting and learning, I've made my first creature! Six tentacles, two arms, no legs. Snake-like. It's "Gargantuan" (Second largest!)
Oh, and, it breathes fire.
Even a Hydra has issues with it, and it slaps everything else aside. This is a guy you don't want to get into a fight with.
I noticed in combat it wasn't very effective; using its tentacles to grab upper arms and useless such. I decided to give it a test drive.
I spawned in a Steir with an Adamantine Heavy Longsword, as I unpaused and paused to take control of the "Maikoke" as it is called, it killed him. I spawned them further apart a second time.
I took control, and started wrestling. I used two of my tentacles to grasp his wrists and both of my hands to grasp his ankles. I broke them all methodically. (Note: Bug here, where I can only use two of my tentacles, easy fix).
I then released one of his limp arms, whilst he was in extreme pain, and used my tentacle to grab his head, followed by a gouging of the eyes, lips, eyelids... so forth.
I ended her (turns out its a female. I suddenly feel bad...) life with a strangle.
28.09.2010 | 17:12So, got sidetracked whilst making the first creature when I reached "Body_size". In MyWorld, all creatures belong to a size class. Colossal, Gargantuan, Giant, Huge, Large, Medium, Small, Diminutive, Tiny and Fine.
In the same order, in KG weight;
32000, 15270, 7800, 3932, 1696, 87
1, 50, 10, 6, 2.
1Average US Male / size "Average".
I've added the Size Chart image to the screenshots.
28.09.2010 | 16:10- Finished the Ghul Language. Awesome.
- Working on some Fauna.
28.09.2010 | 15:19- Continuing the Ghul Language that I half-filled yesterday.
26.09.2010 | 17:43I've been playing with custom workshops and have a Training Dummy to train your soldiers half-made, and the Printing Press around the same progress.
Struggling to work out how to make them, without knowing what the tag sections are used for.
Now to see what can be done with Adventure crafting!
26.09.2010 | 16:41- Currently testing the Printing Press workshop + Paperback Book "toy".
- Afterwards, I intend to see how much I can do with adventure mode crafting.
26.09.2010 | 15:22- Fixed the Adventure Tiers for current playables (Steir/Ghul).
26.09.2010 | 14:59- Finished the Steir language file
and fixed up the bugs that I was having issues with.
- Tested the current version in Dwarf Mode, and it seems fine.
Garcun Larptarkar, Stoneworker came equipped in silk clothes, with the addition of Shorts that I added, under her dress.
Lardun Largjetag, Woodcutter came equipped with a Copper Wave-bladed longaxe.
26.09.2010 | 11:40- Cleared out the language file, duplicated for each species.
- Beginning to write up Steir language.
25.09.2010 | 22:13I've spent the last couple of hours going over everything to see if it all works, which it seems to do, and the last 45 mins or so clearing out a language file for duplication and easier entry of my pre-made languages. I'm about 1/3 of the way through... Oh, Toady! Why so big? Heh.
Been going at this mod for so many hours now. I'm going to spend the next hour chilling on my xBox, then I'll be heading to an early bed. I plan to finish the Steir language tomorrow - that's one of six species ready for play!
25.09.2010 | 18:58- Fix the Coif Layering
[FIXED]Human 2, Female
Giant Cave Spider Silk Fishnets, Gold High Boots, Bat Leather Kilt, Gold Mail Shirt, Gold Coif, Gold Cap, Gold Gauntlets, Gold Long Sword, Gold Tower Shield.
Human 3, Male
Steel Heavy Longhammer, Small Steel Full Plate Armour, Small Steel Greaves, Small Steel High Boot.
Human 2 has a decent block rate (60) and was able to fend off Human 3's longhammer for a few pages, taking minor knocks. Human 2's longsword had a bitch of a time getting through Human 3's armour.
==================
Human 4
adamantine full plate armour, helm, gauntlets, high boots, greaves and tower shield.
Human 5
Iron Longbow, Iron arrows.
Straight away, an arrow was fired off that got through the greaves that chipped bone and tore tendon and ligament. Followed by a barrage during slow movement towards the archer that did obliterated the poor guy.
25.09.2010 | 18:33Added;- 6 shields
- 4 armours
- Kilt
- Coif
Failed to Add;- Pauldrons.
Now to test their layering and toughness.
25.09.2010 | 17:28Next, I assumed a copy of the spearthrower dwarf, but decked in full adamanatine armour.
Once more, the adamantine breastplate was put to shame; although, the spearthrower *and* spears were using the same stats as the crossbow.
Nethertheless, a spear to the head didn't kill me, and even after being unconscious for 4 pages, I was still alive thereafter. Albeit all but dead.
Both of my hands were destroyed, even though I was able to pull the spears out of my body. With my teeth, I suspect.
Anyway, I'll leave the spearthrowers for now and get to work on the armour... after a little play with my longhammers.
I gave a grand master hammer(hu)man an iron heavy longhammer to avenge me.
Iron Heavy Longhammer VS Iron Spearthrower + 100 Iron Throwing Spears
Human VS Dwarf
6 tiles apart.
Human 1 blocks the flying {iron throwing spear}!
Human 1 reverse strikes Dwarf 1 in the left hand with the pommel of his iron heavy longhammer, bruising the bone!
Human 1 charges at Dwarf 1!
Human 1 smashes Dwarf 1 in the lower body with his iron heavy longhammer, bruising the muscle and bruising the guts!
Human 1 collides with Dwarf 1!
Dwarf 1 is knocked over!
Human reverse strikes Dwarf 1 in the left lower leg with the pommel of his iron heavy longhammer, bruising the muscle!
<1 page of Human bashing the Dwarf>
Dwarf looks sick!
<more bashing>
Dwarf looks sick!
Human 1 smashes Dwarf 1 in the left ear with his iron heavy longhammer, tearing apart the cartilage!
human 1 smashes Dwarf 1 in the right upper arm with his iron heavy longhammer, jamming the bone through the right shoulder's muscle and shattering the right shoulder's bone!
An artery in the right shoulder has been opened!
Human smashes Dwarf in the head with his iron heavy longhammer, bruising the muscle, jamming the skull through the brain and tearing apart the brain!
What a glorious revenge.
25.09.2010 | 17:14Ah. The Iron Throwing Spears also made short work of adamantine greaves, breastplate and fatally, helm. Oops.
- Decrease Thrown Spear damage.
[FIXED]25.09.2010 | 17:11The bugfixes went smoothly. Grandmaster Marksdwarves were able to kill each other with the thrown spears in less than a couple of throws each.
25.09.2010 | 15:42- Fix plural spears' name bug.
[FIXED]- Decrease Spearthrowing Tool damage.
[FIXED]- Increase Thrown Spears damage.
[FIXED]Mangrove Throwing Tool VS Iron Throwing Tool + 100 Iron Barbed Throwing Spears
Dwarf 5 VS Dwarf 6
This battle was 1 page long.
Now, before I type this, let it be said that there *was* a distance of about 20 tiles.
Page 1/1
Dwarf 5 bashes Dwarf 6 in the head with her {Mangrove Throwing Tool}, bruising the muscle, jamming the skull through the brain and tearing the brain!
Dwarf 6 has been knocked unconscious!
Dwarf 6 has been struck down.
Madness.
=========================
=========================
Iron Throwing Tool + 100 Iron Barbed Throwing Spears VS Iron Throwing Tool + 100 Iron Barbed Throwing Spears
Dwarf 6 VS Dwarf 7
This was far more serious.
Page 1 excerpt:
The flying {iron barbed throwing spears} strikes Dwarf 7 in the left upper arm, tearing the muscle!
The flying {iron barbed throwing spears} strikes Dwarf 6 in the upper body, tearing the fat!
The flying {iron barbed throwing spears} has lodged firmly in the wound!
Dwarf 6 jumps away from the flying {iron barbed throwing spears}!
Upon closer inspection, there was a spear "Stuck in Upper Body"
By the end of page 1, Dwarf 7 had a spear in his right lower arm and right lower leg, whilst Dwarf 6 had two in his upper body and one in his lower body.
Seems I need to increase the penetration of these a little!
The beginning of Page 3 had Dwarf 6 unconcious, being pelted till page 7 and onwards with spears.
Guts, Neck, feet, arms and ears and every body part were red with damage. Definetly need a damage boost on these.
25.09.2010 | 16:14- "a" to "a pair of" claws.
[FIXED]- Broken throwing spears.
[FIXED]- "bottom of the" text bug.
[FIXED]Mangrove Quarterstaff VS Mangrove Tri nunachaku
These two I was looking forward to the most, because I gave them four to six different type of attacks.
ie; Dwarf 1 slaps Dwarf 2 in the head with the stave of her mangrove quarterstaff, bruising the muscle, bruising the skull!
ie; Dwarf 2 whips Dwarf 1 in the left lower leg with the entirety of her mangrove tri nunchaku, bruising the muscle!
After 10 pages (Happened in <1 second, mad FPS in the arena (3000-ish)!), they were both severely bruised.
Page 12 killing blow;
Dwarf 2 reverse strikes Dwarf 1 in the head with the bottom of the of her mangrove tri nunchaku, bruising the muscle, jamming the skull through the brain and tearing the brain!
Dwarf 1 has been knocked unconscious!
Dwarf 1 has been struck down.
Slight bug there with the attack description.
==================
==================
Iron Throwing Spear VS Mangrove Tri Nunchaku
The first three pages are Dwarf 2 (Tri Nunchaku) slapping Dwarf 3 around and stunning her.
On the fourth page, she gets a stab through, tearing Dwarf 2's thigh. Dwarf 2 beat off a couple of attacks before Dwarf 3 stabbed Dwarf 2 in the head, whilst she was on the floor. Dramatic.
I didn't spot the Spearthrower, so I need to check for that bug, and get the throwing spear to be... well, thrown. As opposed to stabbed with. Probably an oversight.
==================
==================
Iron Claw VS Iron Reversed-crescent Claw
Dwarf 4 VS Dwarf 5
This was quite bloody.
Dwarf 5 knocked Dwarf 4 down, followed by a clawing to Dwarf 4's left lower egg, severing a motor nerve!
The claw got stuck in, she twisted it around, but to no otherwise extra damage.
Dwarf 4 beat off an attack and countered with a tear of Dwarf 5's stomach fat (causing three bloody gashes in the skin i would imagine).
After 5 pages of bloody scratches and spleen-tearing, Dwarf 5 clawed out Dwarf 4's artery, ligament and and tendon in her left shoulder. A twist caused Dwarf 4's death.
Oh, and, apparently Dwarf 4's right hand came off at some point.
Upon inspection of the claws, it said "a iron claws". Need to change that to "a pair of".
25.09.2010 | 15:32- Testing new weapons.
- Alpha-finished new weapons.
25.09.2010 | 14:24- Beginning new weapon/armour creation.
25.09.2010 | 14:10- Jecarei Jedori does not seem to have been used in history.
- Jecarei Jedori does show up on embark.
- Jecarei Jedori can only be female.
- Jecarei Jedori does require Elegant Office.
- Jecarei Jedori does not require statue.
[NOT FIXED]- Jecarei Jedori does not work.
- Tabona Nagetia requires mandates.
- Tabona Nagetia requires Meager office/quarters.
- "Shetei" makes the nobles more confusing.
[FIXED]
