Legacy of what?
« on: September 24, 2010, 01:42:09 pm »

I cannot seem to find anything on the difference between SDL and Legacy versions of Dwarf Fortress. Older versions of the game have a Legacy version for download, but not SDL. My assumption is that SDL is the current version, and the Legacy version is intended to be left behind for downloads of old versions... or something like that. Can anyone explain the differences between these two versions of the game?

Legacy user interface code.  Low-level computer-y stuff.  You want the SDL (non-legacy) versions.

Legacy is equivalent to the old 40d. SDL is equivalent to the old 40d1, 40d2, 40d3, ..., 40d18, and 40d19.

P.S. If you don't get this note, let me know and I'll write you another.
It's amazing how dwarves can make a stack of bones completely waterproof and magmaproof.
It's amazing how they can make an entire floodgate out of the bones of 2 cats.
