Send the comet to crash into it. The explosion should create a huge cloud of steam, both from the comet's ice and the aquifer, that will cool down by the time the BLOBs arrive.

Also, it may be worth it to start working on more BLOBS, because the ones we have now may not survive the impact.

otherwise We'd have been disintegrated by now for surviving that lightning.
