Make a shipyard. Take apart a turret and attach the parts to the satelite. Build space drone.

If we put it on Atlas' orbit, but a few hundreds kilometers behind, it would be able to offer cover fire without risking being shot.

Move the solar panels. Attach guns to the bottom of the satelite facing outwards. Wouldn't block panels.
