That is beyond your current scanning abilities. You can only scan one side of the planet and it wold use up just about all of your power reserve to move to the other side faster than yo currently are Otherwise it would take a while to reach the other side.

You scan the side of the planet facing you:

The parts of continent 1 that you can detect have sand, coal and iron, all of which can be used in various manufacturing processes.

Continent 2 has copper and coal which may be useful.

The part of Continent 3 that you can scan has iron, copper, platinum, uranium.

The archipeago has no resources worth mentioning.

Volcanic activity prevents you from scannng the volcanic island.

Ths large scale scan has taken a chunk out of your power reserver. your power reserve is currently at 45%, launching a drone requires a power reserve of at least 25%. You can do about 2 more scans and still launch the drone.

Once again, please tell me if something doesn't make sense. I'm not a expert in any of these fields and I'm making it up as I go along.

Also, I meant stuff that would be needed for a starfaring species, who would be beyond the point that they need to use coal for energy.

...point, however it would take time to reach the other side ofthe planet, most of these scans have taken space in a relatively small amount of time. Are you willingt to wait until you can see the other side of the planet? Currently the blobs aren't very far advanced on the starfaring level, sending out numerous automated colonization preperation missions first in numerous directions hoping to find habitable planets. The reasons why they need haitable planets will possibly be revealed later. Currenly you do not posses the means to use more advanced methods for acquiring energy, I was thinking of using the coal as a easily avaible energy source in the beginning of the game that would quickly get phased out.

It takes a few days for messages to reach HOMEWORLD, would probably take a some time for them to deliberate on the choices and then a few days more for the return message to reach us. Hence the need for a AI on site.

So, do they have FTL drive? Sounds like they have some form of FTL communication.

Well yeah, thats how the AI reached the planet, it's just not super fast. Ships take even longer than messages. Like a few months.
