Possessed Smith ignoring stuff
« on: September 24, 2010, 12:52:40 pm »

I've got a Possesed blacksmith thats just ignoring my magma forge. Has anyone else found a problem with magmaforges at all recently (31.13) or is there anything that i could do to get him to go there.

There (still) is a distinction between Magma Forges and regular Forges with moods, I had the same problem 2 days ago. That was 0.31.13 though, but it wasn't in the notes for .14 so it's probably still the case. I had to forge an anvil and build a regular one quick, and it worked.

I just had the same problem with a magma glass furnace. Just build a conventional forge. Moods don't need fuel.

Moods don't need fuel.

So many images in my mind on how they manage to do that...

thats the real reason they drink so much alcohol. It's so when they have strange moods, they can fuel the raw power of the universe into their creations

I've never had a problem with regular/magma forges, but glass furnaces always provide trouble.

Clearly this ability to mentally manipulate objects without fuel should be harnessed and then used to kill elves.

(I wonder if one could mod in an invisible slade breath attack on the dwarf creature raw... I suppose that's the closest we'd get to psychic dwarves for the time being. I appear to have gone off on a tangent here.)

I can confirm the "regular glass furnace != magma glass furnace" thing is still going on in .14.  I have had the "regular forge != magma forge" thing in .12 but it hasn't come up so far in .14 - I think it's unlikely to have been changed though.

No, they yell at the forge to get it going. Strange moods are one of the loudests things found in your average dwarven fortress.
