Aliens!!! Yes I mean the aliens that kill, slice and acid blood kill you not sentient ones but just lone ones and groups. These out-of-this-world creatures can be in evil, terrifying and haunted lands and can f up even a good fortress with their acid/fire blood, sharp claws for arms that slice and dice and 2 sets of sharp teeth, also they spit that acidic(poison?fire?) blood when enraged. They have a hard shell surrounding their body and can deal plenty of pain...did I mention the acid blood? Because since soldiers can get blood on them this might be a small pain...I would love to see this ingame as it gets kind of boring waiting for gobs to come and get slaughtered and it will be a new challenge especially if their queen or elites come for some fun and games ;P. Oh maybe they should be put into the fortress defense mod? Someone send word forth to whoever made that, heh, I'm lazy.

Well, you would want them to splash blood when they die.
You would want acidic fluids that can burn by being on a body.
You would want them to create terrain that grants a huge bonus to their own ambush skill, and has the same appearance as they do even when they are revealed...
You would want multiple races cooperating, preferably with a life-cycle. So that facehuggers turn into to chest-bursters turn into queens...
You would want obscure bite attacks with massive penetrating power.
You would want them to corrode any weapons that cut them.

Or you could just make fast, generic monsters that drop something very cold when they die...

let me get this straight;
you want a monster that can probably kill a mega-beast faster than dwarfs,
Literally is its own class of monster,
can screw a fort up worse than a mega-beast,
has many different abilities,
and killing it with melee will probably kill your own troops.

what is- why would- who could- why would anyone want this? From what you're saying, a single one of them can kill a small group of dwarfs. That is overpowered to the extreme, so what could possibly balance these creeps out? You cant make them weak because the blood would still get on soldiers. you want them to be godlike in melee, so you cant make them weak. Not to mention that the hardest part of this would be to make all the effects and the AI for them.

honestly, while i haven't been here long and I've just been lurking in requests for a few weeks, this is hands down the worst suggestion in the entire thread, there isn't even a basis for the aliens to be in here, you just want them for some reason. If you actually want a challenge so badly don't make traps or anything to block creeps from entering your fortress, or hell, just get a bunch of beasts in cages and release them inside of your fortress, seriously, if you want this so bad you could just mod the game files to make a god monster, just don't come up with with pointless suggestions.

Heh that's the point: having overpowered beasts that can pose a massive threat besides who the he'll would want a fortress where you survive for decades in a peacful fortress and the biggest threat would be fluffy wamblers hey? Come on stop whining about it and man up or stop posting. Anyway the aliens probably won't get into the game but they can definitely be made into a mod so you can download it or not. The aliens will be in areas with heaps of trees so they will be hard for your dwarfs to see.

For me, this is a fantastic source of modding goals. Aliens represent something that makes some measure of sense, but really can't be done according to what I know of modding(which, admittedly, is not much). They have this whole reproductive cycle, and weird physical properties, and being able to duplicate it would be cool!

I can tell you're new, most people who play DF would love having something difficult to beat. We already have *Spolier* Central and mega beasts, FBs and collosi. Whilst I don't particularly want a film knock off myself, some kind off extra hard but none Megabeast would be great. Its not like these would appear in every bio, but a terrifying or w/e biom would be a good place to start looking for them.

Please don't shoot down ideas because you don't want a tough enemy, the game is hard, the enemies are hard, (until you build a danger room and colonise the big top) such is life in DF. You can't really be suggesting you want an easier game?

I don't think adding in aliens fits in with the theme that Toady has going with DF. A better suggestion would be asking for improvements to the game that would allow you to mod in such creatures, let's say for a total conversion sci-fi mod. Specifically speaking, you would want:
-alternate/additional fighting behavior to allow for spitting acid blood when enraged
-acidic blood that can be washed off and doesn't kill a dwarf every time whenever they get a single drop on themselves or their clothing
-a moddable life cycle wherein you can take out the baby stage (since aliens don't take care of the new chestbursters) and can give different behaviors to each stage other than does or does not work/marry/breed
-more developed syndromes that could go so far as to even create a new creature after a certain time has passed
-weapon and armor degredation with use

Support for being able to mod this sort of thing in I would support, because that would mean the game is capable of better simulating life cycles and contains many more interaction types (like acid burning). And that would mean that the fantasy themed monsters that DF does contain would be much more interesting.

As for the inclusion of directly ripped off HR Giger aliens in the core game, I couldn't be more against it.

I have gathered that when you say "alien", you specifically meant "xenomorphs" from the Alien movies? "alien" is too broad of a word.

Ok well the aliens should be different from the movie ones by a bit and i have some quick ideas, as in im late for something-quick,acid could be put in like a thrown object or bolt/water/disease and their mating/life cycle stuff could just be a modified version of another creature if your lazy, uh they could have weaknesses such as to axes and bolts. they could have their own home: ruins of a civ with heaps of items thoughout such as with lairs of beats, dragons, hydras etc, or they could just be primative hunt-in-packs beasts. Oh and they will of course need their own name other than just aliens. It will be a challenging creature/simi mega beast so they will be better than dwarfs in most ways by quite a bit but they do have dis-advantages such as...underneath their "shell" or the gaps in it they are very vulnerable. Its pretty much a acid spitting/bleeding super creature with sensitive flesh in a hard but breakable shell/casing.
