Edit:  Thanks Qwerty for answering my question without being a dick.   And my apologies to the thread for getting misled by Soulwynd saying "used without permission".
I apologize. I always go trollface :V when someone mentions intellectual property theft. The image of Piccard was used without permission.

Yeah, I misread that as "no you idiot, of course they don't have permission".   I do tend get a bit hot-headed about IP theft as I have had characters and work stolen from me and used without permission, albeit in a petty (webcomic) way.

I really like this, but I just can't stand that some characters aren't properly animated.
Dwarf and Trilby especially..

But hey, it's a Work in Progress, I can't wait until it's finished..
Indie Brawl: Perfect World Edition. Amirite?

Browsing their forums, WHY HAVEN'T THEY ADDED THE MUSIC YET?
It's fantastic, all of it.
Especially Flashy Goodness' stuff..

Why isn't it in game?

The game suffers from an overall lack of character strategy (so to speak)

Or basically they make characters and think about how their moves and other such will work together as an afterthought.

This is especially evident with some characters (The Dwarf especially)

Obviously, most of the characters already in it aren't finished yet. The yellow lines you see are just placeholders for animations of future attacks. Some of the characters, mostly those along the top row like Iji, Naija, and Liero, are apparently finished.

Oddly enough Splunker who I would have personally made a flyweight character is supposed to be balanced... yet looking at the moves they give him he is ranged meaning he isn't balanced...

The Dwarf heavily needs an overall theme.

Plus some characters need distancing from eachother.

It is the bad character mechanics that really raise my alarms with this game then the sluggish production. (though one stage in the game is HORRIBLE... holy cow is that Knitt stage bad)

As for music... you know how hard it is to get composers on the internet who are any good for a game like this? Dwarf Fortress has one theme.

Anyway I'd help if I had any talent or ANY inclination that they would even bother to listen to me.

I mean the way they built the dwarf he has no way of competing with the ranged type characters or any speedy character with a decent ranged attack. The Dwarf needs some way of closing the distance or forcing a fight.

So do they have permission to use these guys or are they just straddling the line between hero worship and intellectual property theft?
Spoiler (click to show/hide)

So you responded with a jpg climing what he said was so dumb you couldn't respond with words? Oh but the jpeg needs words to explain itself otherwise it is kinda pointless and looses all its impact... Huh. I'd post some sort of irony motivational, but this isn't 4chan. :P

Anyhow Indie Brawl gets permission

In fact one of the current Indie Brawl characters is a clone of Q back when they wanted him in the game but couldn't get permission.

Also yes the JPG was entirely uncalled for since the question is perfectly valid.

They ask for people to help, but to do anything other than draw art and design requires a purchased copy of an outdated version of gamemaker that isn't even sold anymore. No wonder it's proceeding so slowly. (You can still get gamemaker 7, but they don't sell the codes to use the full version, and thus any attempt to run the game gives endless errors before it even reaches the title screen. Most of the errors are, or are caused by, the inability to use functions that are only available from the purchased version.)

I would rather try to rewrite the whole engine in C than hunt down a hacked copy of GM7, but either way I can't contribute. This is almost certainly a shared opinion.

Trying out some of the characters. I think Iji might be a tad powerful. And yeah, the dwarf needs some work done; like martial trancing or something, or having quantum weapon storage, being able to go up aflame and blindly beat up someone to a paste.

Stuff

Ouch.. Has anyone asked them if they'd be willing to overhaul the engine?
I mean, we still have all the Art, and stuff..

It just makes sense to do it..

And if I'm wrong with the "Engine" part, it's not my fault.

I haven't read their forum much yet, but I hope that they are already working on something. If they aren't, though, it would explain why everything might be going slowly.

Again, I apologize. I'd explain the right reading, but it would probably not lessen how offended you feel; it would just have more words and ethical issues. I assume everyone is acquainted with my position on the matter since I have so vigorously defended it several times, so I wont iterate.

So you responded with a jpg climing what he said was so dumb you couldn't respond with words? Oh but the jpeg needs words to explain itself otherwise it is kinda pointless and looses all its impact... Huh. I'd post some sort of irony motivational, but this isn't 4chan. :P
That's the fun of climing things with motivational posters. You see, the fact the picture is explained itself is part of the ironic fun. But if you have a preference for images without text, post a cool one.

Delicious Music

I'm sorta starting to wonder when it'll be done.  I downloaded a demo not that long ago, and it was the same version that I'd downloaded, like, maybe a year earlier.

I am disappoint Quote and Curly aren't in.  They're really iconic, so the game's really gonna be missing out.
