Cheese
« on: September 23, 2010, 08:29:03 pm »

Is this stuff worth it?  It's awfully fiddly to produce, and fairly cheap to import.  Is there something I'm missing that indicates that I should be spending my time on this, like unicorn cheese or crazy cheese blocks that can be used to make delicious wells?

Worth it?  Now that cheese is a viable product, my fortresses only farm to make booze and cloth.

Cheese is a surprisingly viable and varied food source.

It's the heart of DF.

Do you make megaprojects?

Do you make demon soap drawbridges spanning rivers of ooze?

Do you make magmacannons that flood the world?

Yes?

Then you deserve some *cheese* my friend.

!!Elves!! would actually be kinda cool as a civ symbol.  !!Clowns!!, however, you get the impression they're on fire of their own free, malicious, evil, will.

Also, much scarier if literally clowns.

As useful as any other food. It's for eating mainly, but can be exported or cooked into super valuable roasts, just like any other food. However, cheese is also delicious, so there's that.

You can milk your cows now. I was as shocked as anyone to find out. It's one of the things that changed in the 2010 release.

Well, I certaily like having cheese around, it's just easier to buy it than tell my dwarves to make it, and not expensive at all. Plus, I'm always swimming in plump helmets and forgotten beast meat.

Well personally, I think you should dedicate your fort to Cheese. Infact, why not sacrifice all of your coins and fuds to me cheese?

Another nice thing about it is that you can bring cheap milk on embark and turn it into delicious cheese with just a farmers workshop.

Now that I think about it I really don't know what is more disgusting. Casu marzu (the cheese with live maggots in it. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Casu_marzu) or Dwarf Cheese (the cheese made from the milk of giant purring maggots.)
