ah, welcome back everyone. I do hope you enjoyed your lunch break. The Saturdays across the street makes a particularly good chilli dog and the burgers are just- what? ......yes.....I see.....
Right then. Back to the topic at hand. Following this period of early civilization the Iroquois people became particularly interested in the construction of the bronze spears they had uncovered several decades prior. So they began to seek out other ruins in the hopes that they might find a way to reproduce these weapons en masse. these efforts, whilst not uncovering precisley
how the speartips were made, did uncover the location of tin and copper ores
We believe that it is also during this time period that "Old Faithful" was first discovered by the Iroquois.
Old faithful belongs to the new "Natural Wonders" terrain type, which covers major landmarks such as old faithful, mount fuji, and gernerally and impressive bits of rock. Discovering them improves you civ's happiness, and settling near them gives an even bigger boost. They can also be used to make cash.
It is around this time period that the Iroquois began to learn how to domesticate wildlife. whilst smaller animals, such as dogs, had been common for generations the Iroquois began to domesticate horses and other large animals for labor and food use
As their civilization expanded and continued to search for Ancient artifacts, they inevitably encountered new cultures and cities. Most notable of those encountered were French, Songhai, and Florence. First contact, whilst peaceful, provided hints towards these cultures central values. the leaders of France and Songhai were ambitious leaders who desired to control as much of the world as possible, and the veiled threats exchanged during first contact did not go unnoticed.
This put the Iroquois rather on edge, and the loss of one of their scouting parties to the far south did not improve their outlook on the world
It is believed that this new outlook on the world is the primary reason for some of the Iroquois' cultural values. Up until this point in history, the Iroquois, like most other cultures were ruled by warrior-kings who held absolute authority over their peoples. Afraid that these foreigners might turn their people against them, The Iroquois came to create the concept of Citizenship. This concept, coupled with a loosening of the strict rules that had governed them for the past thousand years, led to a harder working population eager to set out and claim land for the Iroquois nation.
The end result of this was the founding of Osininika to the north east.
of course, settling a new city is not without its problems, the chief of which was communication with the capitol. Inevitably, those tasked with ferrying messages back and forth came to forget some of the messages they were supposed to deliver. usually it was something trivial such as messages to family members, but occasionally something important like military orders or diplomatic messages. One of these messengers, name unknown, began to create a private language to help him remember every message he had to carry. Others soon adopted this practice, and the scribbling came to be known as the Iroquois Alphabet
Unfortunately, we're out of time for today. we shall have to continue this tomorrow starting with the first enlightenment. Goodnight!
