There are only two exceptions to when I turn off the music in DF, one when I don't have headphones and two when my FPS dips below ten. Only two, it runs endlessly.

The graphics set package I downloaded (Mayday's, I think) has no music for some reason.  So I searched it on youtube and used endlessyoutube to loop it over and over constantly.

It's looped 5,671 times now since I started it (I don't turn off my laptop) and neither me nor my roommate have gotten annoyed with it yet.  Ethereal god music indeed.
It does, go to the init file and change sound to ON.

No it doesn't.
This version comes without the music files: http://mayday.w.staszic.waw.pl/df.php

But you can always extract or copy them from the "official" download.

I listen to a lot of Romantic era composers while playing DF, and a lot from my hefty collection of Italian suspense/porn movie soundtracks.

The Ring Cycle is amazing for DF.

Personally I like to listen to breakcore when I'm playin df. I haven't listened to the df song in so long i kinda forget how it goes. Maybe I'll turn it on for old times sakes today.

edit: http://www.endlessyoutube.com/watch?v=-6FXeupOp04 and http://www.rainymood.com/ at the same time are AMAZING

Thank you.

You're welcome.

If you enter the word "endless" in front of the "youtube" in a youtube vid's URL, it'll loop the vid endlessly.. you can even loop certain time frames of it.  Great for music.

Rainymood.com is great, I only turn it off when we get a real thunderstorm here (just about the only thing I like about Florida; this place has some truly awesome thunderstorms).

I love the DF music and generally, I have the tendency to put a song on repeat and forget about it for hours anyway. When i need a change, though I like to put on  Allegri's Miserere Mei, Deus.  I've never really associated it with worship and it's an amazing piece of music for games like this; it's powerful and moody but, other than that high C, it doesn't intrude or overpower.  Traits shared with the DF song, if lighter.

I tend to play the Ace Combat 4 and 5 soundtracks, reserving the epic latin song from 4 for FBs and HFS and using the epic latin song from 5 for sieges.

I don't think so.  If there's someone running around with my name on other forums I need to catch him before he signs my name to an entire checkbook.
