Let's send enough aid to the Republic of Spain to let them hold their ground and throw new development into the Belgian front. Also, we should get more countries to help Republican Spain.

Let's shift the focus of World War Two to the Spanish Civil War!

Concentrate on getting an alliance with Republican Spain.  If you directly intervene in the SCW, it will be over in a matter of weeks.

The problem is we're maximum democracy and we'd need to be authoritarian to declare war at will. As a democracy we need our enemy to be highly belligerent to justify war. Also we have maximum relations (+200) with Republican Spain but because we're not the leader of the Allies we cannot invite them. Only the UK can do that. The only way I can think of declaring war on the Nationalists is pissing them off. Which I'll do. With spies.

I suppose in a pinch you could leave your alliance with the UK, form a new alliance with spain, then ally with the UK to merge your alliances back together.

That's pretty risky. What if Republican Spain doesn't want to form an alliance? Or the UK won't merge back? (much more likely as we'd get a huge negative from leaving the alliance and we only have 155 with them now) Well actually if we're not part of the Allies than we wouldn't be automatically at war with the Axis which might be good. I'll put it up to vote after I post (and play) an update.

People of France the Choice is with you!

The Spanish Civil War is going badly for the Republicans. They have recently lost the last mainland port of Valencia, rendering their Navy (one of their only advantages) virtually useless. France has sent aid in the form of oil, supplies and even a small contingent of volunteers. However the League of Nations, backed by our friend Briton is forbidding us from intervening directly claiming that this is a Spanish war, to be fought by the Spanish alone. And so the French government, has put forth a referendum to decide whether to leave the Allies and forge an alliance with Republican Spain or to stay in the Allies. We urge the French people to take part in this important vote, that will decide the fate of a nation.

I don't recommend this.  That is part of Spains core territory, so they will get more industrial territory out of it then we will.  Besides, now that we are allied, we can freely make use of their ports.  I suggest gifting back any land taken from Spain.

Start buttering up England to merge the alliances.  Then we will be ready to drive back the Hun once more!
