Looking for a good rogue like
« on: September 20, 2010, 12:13:37 pm »

Read it right there,A rogue like with awesome possibilities
I want it to be an open world game not a single dungeon.Like ADOM or something
It should be with variety and there should be things to do it unlike the adventure mode in DF

Try prospector, alphaman or gearhead.

You can't go wrong with 3059 and 3069 (sequel added the 3D movement, first one was more traditional).

GearHead - seconded (try both parts 1 and 2). Also "Privateer: Ascii Sector" and "Transcendence" (which is less of a roguelike, though)

I third Gearhead. Though only the first. I hate the concept of mechs with a passion (both the walkers and the gundam-likes) and yet I really enjoyed this. I'd also suggest against using the graphical version of GH1, as it's just sort of off. I don't know why.

Gearhead 1 is an absolute recommendation (ToME is pretty cool too but the latest branch is still missing a lot of content), it doesn't just do mecha well it does personel well, and merging the two.

If you want to really spend 99% of your time outside of a mecha, you can do that, and there's no shortage of quests and content for that. The wealth of different skills and talents and item choices really make you able to play the game however you want.

Gearhead looks awesome
Downloading but skipping 3069 because its 3D
Is there a rogue like which involves construction of stuff?
Like cut a tree and make a bridge thingy?

If you like good roguelikes, it's Nethack and Stonesoup... Oh wait, not a single dungeon...

Space roguelikes:
Prospector, there's a thread with its development here in "Other Games" section. Your main goal is to explore new planets and trade around. The exploration is the focused part though.
Privateer: ASCII Sector - a roguelike which is based on the awesome "privateer" game. Roam the planets, take quests, transport passengers and cargo, fight and survive.
Transcendence - a graphical arcade in space in a roguelike style, not a real RL though :P.

Other stuff:
* roguesurvivor.blogspot.com - graphical roguelike, a survival in a zombie city. Pretty customizable and WIP so expect new updates soon. With proper settings becomes really competitive (if you want it).
* ToME4 - check it :D.

Well I like ADOM and DoomRL which is Doom Rogue Like meaning Doom converted to a Rogue Like ;) for people who still don't know what I mean. Oh and a great place to find rogue likes is Roguebasin or even search on wikidpedia.
