they act just like burrows, except that you can forbid certain dwarves from going in them.

You can get something a little like this by using forbidden doors, hatches, etc. but I think this is a good idea.  It should be called an "interdicted burrow".

Not to be rude or anything, but this has already been suggested about fifty times.

With 421 pages of threads in the suggestions forum it's not surprising that ideas are repeated many many times.  Great minds think alike and all that.  You shouldn't let it bother you.

I don't mean forbidding all dvarves (as would happen with locking doors) but only forbidding certain ones.

Awww theres a distinction. But you could just use burrows and assign all the dwarfs you want to keep out to another burrow.

This is a platinum warhammer. All craftsdwarfship is of the highest quality. it menaces with spikes of platinum.
there is an image of the goblin Utes Gozrusrozsnus and dwarves in elf bone. The goblin is making a plaintive gesture. the dwarves are striking a menacing pose.

That can be very time consuming. Say I only want my farmers and my dedicated food haulers to harvest plants. I have to make burrows for EVERY OTHER DWARF IN THE FORTRESS to keep them from ambling off to the farming fields whenever they damn well please. That's extremely tedious. With a reverse burrow system that only allows certain dwarves, all I have to do is make one over the farm plots, assign my planters and food haulers to it, and I'm done.

Yep, and also I'm pretty sure that supplies don't really share through burrows, so it could cause problems there. Don't worry I'm still with you.
