Yeah, the invisible monster is less than terrifying. Keep playing though. This game tries to convey a lot of different fears, and whilst some of them may not play on yours, there is bound to be things that will scare you.

I played through this, and some other scary games, feeling tense at most and never scared. But there is something with water and the things in it that always makes me slightly hysterical, even it its just a hyper-aggressive clownfish(no, i dont mind clowns) that can damage me.
I think that it comes from the notion that anytime theres a mass of fluids in games, something bad is there.

With the announcement of Humble Indie Bundle #2 I am holding off on this. Seeing how Penumbra was in the previous bundle, maybe this will be in the second? =p

I think I'd be interested in it if there was something more to it than being really really scary.  I just don't really like those kinds of games.  I played the original penumbra back when it was free and I just couldn't get far because all it was was dark corridors and freaky monsters.

The original Penumbra had a couple of brick moments.  Like

Well, I just got this game- I'm deliberately not reading any of the other posts here in case I read a spoiler-

But yeah, this game is one of the most thrilling I've played ever in my life. It's good to see an original game every now and then.

My brother got this and I've been lucky enough not to see anything terribly frightening but he told me after several levels he was scared out of his skin.

I've got to say, though, the entire experience would be far better if it supported 5.1 sound.

I've played this for a few minutes and caught my first glimpse of what I believe to be an actual enemy and because of what I've heard about the lack of combat I want to know:
Can I kill him by luring him through a door and then repeatedly smashing his head with it, Jason Statham style? Or is he an ambulatory environmental hazard that simply has to be avoided?
