Has everyone migrated to 0.31?
« on: September 19, 2010, 11:46:15 am »

I notice that in places like /v/ everyone is still running 0.28.181.40, citing difficulties with military and other things.
Personally, I find the military even better in 0.31.

What is everyone here using, just out of interest?

.31.12 here. The military's been ironed out, and caverns and FBs provide a lot of fun.

31.12

.13 has too many immigrant problems and don't get me started on sprawl.

It's not an embark so much as seven dwarves having a simultaneous strange mood and going off to build an artifact fortress that menaces with spikes of awesome and hanging rings of death.

I'm on 31.12, considering/trying to figure out how workable 31.13 is.

I have a friend though who I know is still on .28, since that's what he found a tutorial for.

31.12 for me.  Tried .13 but found the bugs to be too annoying (for some reason I don't like drunks and thieves in my migration waves)

Drunks and thieves? I'm on a .12 copied over to .13, I never got any of them. Did get a legendary speardwarf though.

They're like nobles that don't issue mandates and nobody complains when an amusing unfortunate accident happens to!

Or if your being aztec dwarves, they'll help ensure the sun comes up.

(Though, do to being distracted, I haven't gotten that far in .13 yet... about how common are these unusable migrants?)

Can you assign drunks and thieves to burrows? If so, they could be used as a distraction for a siege/FB while the military dwarves get ready.

I moved to .13 now that I can use DT. I'm still generating worlds in .12 to avoid SPRAWL EVERYWHERE though.

I can assign drunks to operate the forges. I'm sure that will end well.

I thought that was just a problem for the test world I generated. Any idea if it'll be any less for the next release?

With me, I'm not playing now, but should I begin playing, it would be 28.181.40. I also hate hate HATE starting a fort. Most of the times when I'm trying to play again, I give up within a year. If I can make it past two years, the fort will last 20 or so years or until FPS death.

It wasn't until two years ago that I stopped playing 2D. That should tell you how long it will take me to get to the newest overhaul.

.13.  I wanted to check out the site sprawl and trading fixes, as well as help root out new bugs that have inevitably appeared.

Do you always look at it in ASCII?

You get used to it, I don't even see the ASCII.  All I see is blacksmith, miner, goblin.
