Sure. You look down the stairway, as going up will still leave you trapped on top of the tower. There are lots of people now running up the stairs, and the ceiling is too low to go over them, if you had even felt confident enough to do so. So you run up the stairs instead, even though you might still end up getting trapped.
You force your way past some more people on your way up, and push some of them down the stairs, which slows down your pursuers a lot. There are no side rooms or other tunnels this high up, so you climb all the way up the tower. Finally, you reach a staircase that has a hatch you can barricade. You put some of the barrels ( filled with something foul-smelling. You decide it's probably best to not look in them ) stockpiled in this room on top of the hatch, and more around it so they can't just be knocked over too easily. Clearly, what happened before was just to give you a better escaping opportunity now, and not at all the random fall of the dice! Your escaping instincts would never betray you!
You then take the time to survey your surroundings. It's a round room full of barrels, and there's a ladder leading up. You look at the ladder and see the bright blue...sky? It seems you're almost at the top already. You hear voices coming from the top of the tower.
(I'll just decide for you and say you climb the ladder)
You climb the ladder and stick your head just high up enough to look around the top of the tower.
Surprisingly, you don't get spotted! There are cages here on the top, with animals in them. Your animals! Also, Horl is tied up and being held by a guard. You see 5 more guards, all armed. One of them is talking to the mayor. Apparently he survived the traps you led him through, the coward probably stopped chasing you first chance he got.
"Where are all my voters? Are you sure this was properly announced?" he asks the guard. The guard hesitates for a moment, and then answers:
"Well, Bilm stayed behind to announce it to everyone. Maybe something happened down below?"
"Or maybe he is just slacking off. Send one of your guards down to announce it, then. We haven't had an official sacrifice in years, and I want everybody in Sjingpingpong to know whose idea it was! And hurry up, or we'll have two humans to sacrifice instead of one! Three, if Bilm is stupid enough to still show up..." The mayor then starts to turn towards your hiding spot, but you climb down fast enough to avoid being seen. You hear more talking. There is probably going to be a guard climbing down the ladder soon. What are you going to do about this?
