Exotic weapons and Dwarves
« on: September 18, 2010, 11:12:07 am »

Given that I've just been invaded by a large group of goblin macemen, many of which have morningstars and flails, will I be able to give my military dwarves those weapons? If so, does anyone know how effective they'll be compared to a normal mace?

well... I think you can equip them . But why use a morning star? An axe works wonders.

Axes are so boring though. Blunt weapons are where it's at. Also, I'm soon to have loads of them

Also, does anyone know about mauls; I have one, and a platoon of hammerdwarves; I figured since they're so much bigger, this also makes them heavier and more effective?

They're too big to be wielded by most dwarves.

They can't be wielded by any dwarf. Some human weapons can, but not human two-handed weapons.

It's not an embark so much as seven dwarves having a simultaneous strange mood and going off to build an artifact fortress that menaces with spikes of awesome and hanging rings of death.

It is possible, just very rare to have a dwarf large enough to do it.

Aw man. I just gave a dwarf a maul in arena mode too. Suppose I'll have to melt it then

You can mod the game to allow them to carry the maul.

Meh, I think I'll go without that. Anyone know how foreign weapons compare to dwarven ones though?

Most of them aren't good enough to warrant tracking down just to equip your dwarves with, aside from flails, whips and scourges.

Those three are dwarvern laser weapons.

You can put foreign weapons in traps, I think.  Dunno how effective they are there.

You mean the non-dwarven laser weapons?

Flails are good? Cause I'm about to get a large shipment. What about morningstars?

No. Whips are supersonic microhammers, Scourges are lightsabres, and Flails are weaker whips, I think.

I agree with the other folks, "imported" weapons work very well in traps. 3 bronze/steel discs and 7 random maces, mauls, halberds, bows, whatever... there's no kill like overkill.

And then, they will be weaponized. Like everything in this game, from kittens to babies, everything is a potential device of murder.
So if baseless speculation is all we have, we might as well treat it like fact.
