No carpentry :(
« on: September 17, 2010, 07:34:59 pm »

OK, I have
-plenty of logs, accessible and not forbidden
-carpentry enabled on every single dwarf
-about 5 carpenter's shops
-plenty of piles for furniture

Still, none of my carpentry orders are followed. They don't get cancelled, they are just ignored. Any idea why?

I'm still at .12.

You didn't set your workshops to be accessible only to carpenters of a certain skill level, did you?

Only thing I can suggest would be to zip up your save folder, upload to DFFD, and post it.

Make sure the shops aren't forbidden (do a Reclaim on them). It can happen if you do a forbid on a material type they happen to be made of.

So there's that, as well. It looks like the only chronic problems that water can't cure are nausea and cave spider bites.
Which, coincidentally enough, can be cured by magma.

yeah hit (t) and scroll to the shop. If any of the (B)uilding materials are forbidden, unforbid them.

I had that happen once in 40d, felt pretty stupid (but relieved) when I finally figured it out and took the shop off forbid.

And make sure you don't have burrow restrictions that would prevent the carpenters from using either the logs or the workshop.

If you try to make wood crafts or traps, you would need wood crafting or trapping labors enabled respectively.

do you have some vast wooden construction hogging the logs? i often run itno the same problem but for stone (huge tower type thing going on so lots of work is ignored, cancelled and so on as rocks picked to be in the tower block everywhere).

also, this is through a manager or through the workshop orders menu?

Ah, yes, the wood-trap dilemma. So silly if you ask me.
Glad you got it figured out.
