Alive or dead, they provided no explanation, attacked me, and their robes are tacky.

Go and use that Artillery gun on those cultists.

[6+3=6] You set up the Cannon and take aim at the first cultist. [Dodge:3+1=4] As you struggle with the cumbersome weapon, he jumps behind the central table for cover. Hnngh.

I use the computer to attempt to ascertain the status, location, and ETA of the likely VIP.

[6] Skillfully manipulating the systems of the central computer, you have it follow the comm traffic and build a real-time map of the city and the situation based on it. You also feed it the comm system records, and quickly create a full hologram map of the city based on them, with blue and red icons for city forces and hostiles and important landmarks named. You're not sure who the VIP is and can't ask the LT with the battle still raging on, so you simply locate all city units heading your way and bring them up on the map.

It seems the Governor's compound was hit by a Council strike team with an extremely skillful AI that shut down security, and the governor was evacuated. Last contact with the escort team was half a dozen blocks away from the station, and it reported the strike team was still pursuing them. Other possible VIP's are Miss Chidin, who was working on a project for the city until the base was hit by an unknown hostile with an even more advanced AI, and Grand Admiral Stjepan Tbasi and his entourage, who crashed into the Descent by escape pod after the Nyx was destroyed. Chidin was apparently heading for her nearby lab first, despite the objections of her escort team, and Tbasi is just a few blocks from here.

Quickly try for the resonance detonator again.

[5+1=6] With incredible speed, Tor drops on his knees and begins fashioning a resonance detonator from his materials. [6] Amazingly, Ludd's men back away instead of attacking. [Power:3] The effect of the detonator isn't much stronger than your fists, but atleast it can harm multiple people. [Size:1] It is an amazing feat of engineering, all that machinery miniaturized and tucked inside something not much larger than your finger. Unfortunately, it's not very practical to use. [Functionality:6] That is countered by excellent, fool-proof design, though. It will be hard to break this thing. [Fuel:1] It takes a shitton of materials to build, though.

Resonance Detonator added to Inventory!
A Lot of Scrap Metal reduced to Some Scrap Metal in Inventory!
Some Computer Parts removed from Inventory!

Pop some shapeshift pills, growing an extra pair of arms.
Then, vibroblade time!

[6+1=6] You empty the entire bottle into your mouth, and focus on a new pair of arms. [3] There are no side effects from this, though, and two muscled arms begin to appear from your back. The pain of the transformation forces you to forget about attacking Ludd's men.

Wield a chunk of rock as a weapon. Walk out and observe the surroundings, unlike how we all were failing for several turns.

[4] You pick up a relatively sharp rock and walk out of the tunnel, looking around the station platform. The crowd seems worried. Some of them are heading upstairs and some back into the train, but most stand undecided on the platform.

FIGHTING SPIRIT!!!! >:U Open fire on the rest of the cultists.

[4] You bring up the Carbine and take aim at the cultists. [Dodge:4] He hits the ground and your shot goes wide. You quickly adjust your aim and try again. [Dodge:5] Another miss, and now he's fully hidden behind it! Goddamnit! [Dodge:3+1=4] Unsurprisingly, your third shot misses as well. *sigh*

Quote from: Ludd's Men
What is wrong with you? Take him out!

[5+1=6][2][1] Ludd is the only one to continue combat - it seems the two others are too afraid of Tor and his skill of creating. [2] Ludd charges at Tor from behind, [Dodge:3] and he can't get away in time. [BP:1] Ludd swings his wrench in a wide arc, slamming it on the side of Tor's skull. [Damage:2-1=1] However, he's tougher than he looks and stands up calmly after the blow. Ludd sneers at him, moving back for a better position.

Quote from: Cultists in Train
We might still make it!

[1][3] The first cultist sticks to cover while the second leaps forward at [2] Taric, who's still struggling with the Cannon [Dodge:2] and fails to move out of the way. [BP:1][Damage:4] There's a nasty cracking sound as the cultist's foot connects with the base of Taric's skull and sends him sliding down the floor of the carriage, leaving a trail of blood behind him.

Taric Al-Sayyid: Head: Moderately Wounded

Quote from: City Troopers
Keep firing.

[5+1=6][3][2][3] Two of the soldiers and the LT move up and take aim again. [1][2][2][Dodge:2][Dodge:1] Their professionalism shows as all shots find their mark, [BP:2][BP:6][BP:6] the LT scoring skillful hits on the cultist in cover. [Damage:4+1=5][Damage:3+1=4][Damage:4+1=5] He goes down quickly, heavy damage dealt to both his stomach and arm.

[BP:4][BP:2][BP:1][BP:3][BP:1][BP:4] The two troopers work in unison, [Damage:4+1=5][Damage:4+1=5][Damage:4+1=5] the first scoring three perfect hits on the man's body and sending him crashing down onto the floor, [Damage:4+1=5][Damage:5+1=6][Damage:2+1=3] and the second making sure he's dead with a series of needless kill-shots. The carriage is now clear of hostiles.

---

And in case you're wondering, no, I didn't forget Taric's armor - but it's a vest, and the cultist hit his head.

And hey, I referenced two different characters from the original game with the results of Nirur's action - one who you might actually meet quite soon-ish.

Loot the cultists for computer parts (cell phones, datapads, watches, etc.)

Edit: Or not.

I make plans for a suit of full-body powered armor, complete with an air refresher unit.

Computer parts. From the Luddite cultists. The 'we hate technology' guys.

I see no problem with that.

Ask a soldier to treat my wounds while I blow that damned cultist up! Cover or not!

He's dead, Dave.

They're all dead, Dave.

I'm willing to let knowing what happens to other people slide as long as they're nearby, but the nearest cultists are in their base, a long trip down the tunnel and behind closed doors.

EDIT: The confusion about the cultists is pretty much my fault. Nobody wants to read long NPC combat reports, even when important things happen in them. But I still like making 'em >_>

Alright, FuzzyZergling, I wasn't sure if I should give you bonus of somekind for your extra arms, but I've given you an extra attack this turn. I haven't yet decided if it will stay.

Just ask for treatment then.

[4] None of the soldiers is a trained medic or anything, but one patches your head a little anyhow. You begin to feel a little better.

Head: Slightly Wounded

I make plans for a suit of full-body powered armor, complete with an air refresher unit.

[1] You scribble down confusing notes and blueprints that are simply and utterly wrong. This will surely help when you construct the invention. [-2 to creating this invention, etc etc]

Power Armor Plans added to Inventory!

Rush towards the cultist shenanigans and throw my nunchucks at the closest cultist, just for the heck of it.

[6-1=5] You charge screaming into the train, blindly swinging your nunchucks around. A passenger tries to return inside the train but gets caught in the whirlwind of destruction you are causing. [5] You recognize him as the man who tried to steal your hat! Bastard! The man's face goes white as he realizes who you are as well. [Dodge:4] He jumps back before you can hit him, though.

Charge forward and detonate the resonance!

[3-1+3=5] You activate the detonator before Ludd or the other cultists can stop you. [2][6][1][2][3] Doc Fuzz ignores the blast and the third cultist is far away enough not to be affected, but everyone else gets thrown across the room. [BP:2][Damage:5] Pain shoots out throughout your body and you hear your bones cracking as you hit the wall at high speed. Your vision blurs, and you fall on your knees, struggling to breathe. [BP:6][Damage:2] Ludd falls on his arm, but the damage is minimal, and he gets right back up again. [BP:4][Damage:1] The only other cultist affected stumbles backwards and trips, but he seems fine. By sheer bad luck and close proximity to the bomb, you suffered the most damage from it.

Resonance Detonator removed from Inventory!
Torso: Heavily Wounded

Now that the cultists are all dead, search them if they have any money or information. Follow the city guard onwards toward the cult base.

[2] You go through the pockets of the Luddites but it doesn't seem like they carried anything valuable or interesting. [4] You follow the LT around like a hungry puppy, constantly asking him when you'll attack their base. He gently explains to you that they don't know much about these cultists, and certainly not the location of their base.

Ludd-ite annihilation time!

[2+2=4] You power up the vibroblade and advance towards [2] one of the cultists. You execute a swift cut [Dodge:3] that he fails to get away from, [BP:4] and you draw blood from his leg. [Damage:4-1=3] It doesn't cut that deep, though, and he moves away from the reach of your blade. [Dodge:2] You attack again, this time stepping through his defense and swinging the blade upwards in a wide arc. [BP:1][Damage:5] He screams as the vibroblade moves across his head, tearing apart flesh and bone and cutting apart his mouth and eye. He falls to the ground, trying to hold his face together. Ha! You are a master swordsman!

---

Background Roll: [6] It's like a blindfold has been removed from your eyes - you're suddenly aware of a ton of things happening around you. New city forces have arrived at the aboveground part of the station, and are escorting several men in labcoats or suits down the stairs. The crowds finally notices them and begins demanding answers from them as well. You hear heavy engines roaring aboveground. The Luddite attacks seem to have stopped for now, and any stragglers are returning to the base.

NPC's

Quote from: Station Soldiers
Move these people back onto the train and find Temur. We may not have much time.

[3] The crowd isn't very eager to return to the train they just came from, and the soldiers have trouble controlling them. Most begin slowly drifting towards the train in the end, though. [6] A soldier is sent inside the train, and quickly finds the lieutenant. After a short exchange of words, he leaves with the soldier and goes outside, telling his own men to stay put and guard the control center.

Quote from: Ludd's Men
Hold them off!

[1] Ludd stumbles to the door, intent on leaving before he gets killed, but fails to get the heavy thing open on his own. [2][4] The heavily bleeding trooper at Doc Fuzz's feet tries to pull off a surprise attack, [Dodge:6] but the Doctor performs an amazing feat of acrobatics, using the vibroblade to leap high into the air and landing gracefully on the other side of the room.
