Since when was a proffesion for a dwarf "drunk"
« on: September 16, 2010, 08:18:39 pm »

Since dwarfs are permanently drunk(or should be),does that mean that they don;t have to specialize in it, i.e. a profession. then why did i get a dwarf(yes i checked his bio) labled drunk, when his skills were:leather worker, ambusher and thresher. How odd.

I have submitted a bug report

Edit: also in that wave was a guy with the skill military tactics, 2 other guys with the professions war-peasent and hunting peasant

Did you know that if you write 3.14 on a piece of paper and hold it in a mirror, it will say pie? And if you divide 42 by 3.14... you get 13.37!

It is incredibly satisfying to kill a man with a butterfly.

New skills? Arena mode must be used.

Drunks have always appeared in adventure mode, but I've never heard of one in Fortress Mode. I thought that title was only given to characters without a title. (IE, peasants) I've never heard of a dwarven thief, either. What are his skills?

Absolutely take screenshots. Just put them on photobucket or imageshack.

EDIT: This bug is discussed in more detail in the "New strange things in 31.13" thread.

I am fairly confident that these wonky migrants are a direct side effect of toadys changes to the way settlements and such are generated.  I, personally, am staying away from .13 and will patiently await a less wacked out version.  In the meantime I am sticking with .12.

I saw a group of goblin ambushers lead by a Dwarven priest.  That was pretty WTF-worthy.

The answer is pretty clear: he only drinks the tanning fluids used in leathermaking, which in turn are made only from the animals he himself catchs and grinds up. He doesn't hold with that sissified plant-based alcohol.

I mis-read the "Drunk" and "Master Thief" and for a moment I thought that we could have dwarven "Drunken Masters".  Then that moment passed.

We already have them - no self-respecting dwarf would go fight enemies sober.
