There ought to be an option to get quarantined items back and exclude them from further scrutiny. I don't know what you've got to click on in AVG though.

AVG User interface -> Tools -> Advanced Settings -> PUP exceptions I believe.

This is weird as i use AVG + Firewall. Ive raised this with some friends who work at AVG as a fault and there should be a fix in the next week or so (possibly longer if your using free)

Till then

Tools>Advanced Settings> PUP Exceptions (add the folder your downloading into, then add the DF folder) then also add Resident Sheild> Directory exclude (folders/method as before)

I would not advise running without an AV client.

Just disable it. I have this problem with my AVG on occasion.

MSE is actually one of the best antiviruses out there at the moment.  I'd highly recommend it.  I've never had any issues with false positives (or real ones for that matter, but I'm pretty locked down), and it generally stays out of my way.  Avg was decent when it was pretty much all you could get for free, now it's pretty mediocre.

AVG is actually pretty good for a free program, though I have not used MSE.

Your better off with no virus scanner, its completely redundant software that does little but chew system resources..... And i find virus scanners only have a use if your inclined to download files that are odiously viruses...

Heck the only time i run a virus scanner is right before i reformat, and its not o remove viruses, its to see how many i accumulated before i format, usually none.

Although i did once have a virus scanner bullguard i think, manage to mark every file in the windows folder as viruses.... and delete them all, while windows was running somehow.

Nod32 is nice, you can barely notice any difference between running it or not. It is the fastest antivirus on the market.
