Blood Bowl is a boardgame, which is basically a fantasy version of American football. There are undead teams, and there are DWARFS too! Injuries are part of the game in Blood Bowl, there are actually some teams (Cough Khemri [Basically egyptian mummys and skeletons etc.]cough) that are more interested in *killing* opponents players than scoring touchdowns (Obviously, if opponent doesn't have any players, it's much easier to do touchdowns).

FUMBBL is a site, where you can use Javabowl (a blood bowl client that uses *gasp* java) to play other players. There are multiple divisions, like Unranked, Ranked, League, Blackbox (Blackbox = Basically, every 15 minutes, you can enter your team. If there are enough teams signed to blackbox, the bot takes the most even teams and schedules them against each other) and stunty (stunty is full of custom weakling races. One game, I literally had 7 players on my team die and have 4 seriously injured players).

Why FUMBBL over Cyanide's Blood bowl and what are the differences? Well, first of all, FUMBBL uses Javabowl, which is free (You do need to own the original board game for legal purposes, however). Also, instead of, what, 8 races Cyanide's BB has, FUMBBL has all of them + some custom races (basically all the stunties). Cyanide's Blood Bowl uses LRB6 ruleset, while FUMBBL uses LRB5 ruleset (there is a LRB6 client in the making, however). This of course means that some skills are different, but mainly the game is same.

Anyways, is anyone from Bay12 playing on FUMBBL? I was thinking that maybe we should make a Bay12games league? I could try to play against you guys in other divisions, if you are interested.

In case there *is* interest in bay12 league, any restrictions? I would personally allow Stunty leeg teams, while they are fun, they probably won't win against any 'real' teams. Also, we should probably start with basic 100 TR teams that don't have any games played. Should we have as a round robin league, tournament, or what system should we use?

Well presumably you don't have to roll the dice and count+add stuff yourself, and there's no risk of forgetting that one guy's bonus over there, but you're not going to have much fun if you don't know the rules pretty darn well.  It's not Monopoly or anything; while some of it is intuitive, it IS a wargame (sorta).  You're supposed to milk the numbers for every scrap of advantage you can get. 

That said, I'd love to join if I can get the time to play...

'need' to own the game. It's only for legal reasons though, so it works just fine without owning the game. (It has no way to tell if you do.) I'll like to join. Hopefully, my undead team will work this time.

It's been a few months since my last run at an in-person league, so I'm willing to join a Bay12 league online.

You don't need to "own" anything. The Blood Bowl rules are free for all to download from the Games Workshop website. All FUMBBL does is move the tabletop to the digital world. Just pop over to the Specialist Games section of GW's website and download whatever the most recent version of the Living Rulebook is.

I'd be up for it. I haven't tried FUMBBL for ages but I remember it being fairly accurate to the rules and spirit of Blood Bowl. Plus, unlike every other Warhammer Fantasy franchise, it still has Chaos Dwarfs, which makes me love it automatically.

I might try this out- I recently downloaded the Bloodbowl rules and will probably learn a few of them for the video game, so I might as well use my new found knowledge elsewhere.

The game is (mostly) automated. I mean, you do have to choose where to move etc. but the game will automatically calculate dodges/kick offs etc.

Also, you 'need' to own the original game for legal purposes. There are no 'anti-piracy' measures or stuff like that, however.
