I will make an update later, now I have to go.

The dust town is finished (soil settlement) and we've uncovered the first caverns.

We've got a bunch of immigrants so feel free to ask for remaining roles (which are not taken) to be trained into specialists.

Also we've got 4 more soldiers, one of them is a legendary speardwarf.

Stories and pictures will follow later.

I'll take the expedition leader/broker/bookkeeper if you don't mind. 

Do you have a dwarf worshiping a God/Goddess of doors, travel, and/or trade?  (Can you see that?)  That would be my first choice.

The pantheon is in the first page, so those are the only gods.

I'll take whichever of the two remaining dwarves is male. If both are of the same gender, give me the cook. I mean, everyone needs to eat.

I'll decide on the nickname after seeing the dwarf's traits.

Ushilzagith, we've got immigrands so you have plenty to choose.

I will upload the list soon, in a few minutes.


Also right now military is quite randomized (they need training) but later I will make squads based on religion, and each squad will have its own burrow.

And it looks like noone rushes to grab a legendary speardwarf, I wonder why.

Canalan will be above ground/trader defender since he belongs to the god of songs, charity and generousity; Tetthush's cult will have a temple complex dedicated to traiding and diplomacy.

It looks like we have a master thief and a drunk who cannot be controlled as civs. I will try to put them both into military and see what happens.
It's fun how the worshipper of the god of laws/boundaries is a master thief :/.

Chapter I: Dust Town

The first year didn't bring us any surprises. Our miners Biff and Cognate McAwesomeDwarbridge worked hard, and as a result we have a small cavern we can call a home to our mission. The walls are muddy and the ceilings leak when it rains, but it will work for now. Although we've started to dig out the stone layer below which is planned to be our Commons area.

We've found a tiny passage leading down which was expanded and suited for movement, and it appears there's a huge world below! At first there was not a lot of hard ore, but we've found some tin and copper, so soon enough we should start to smelt bronze gear for our militia.

There were small disputes all over the place between worshippers of different gods. Factions start to form


Dust town


This is a temporary housing for our glorious mission. Later it will be used as a place of living for non-significant persons and new immigrants.

Rock Commons



Just below the Dust Town, Rock Commons will not offer great comfort but should be a next goal to work with. Worshippers of Romlam want to establish a small shrine here, not too far from the surface and their beloved dusk, but with enough minerals and materials to work with.

The worshippers of Vudnis want to go deeper and find the real wealth and glory of future Fortress.

The statue of God:


Cognate McAwesomeDrawbridge was inspired by our plans and carved a fine statue of his goddess!



We were ambushed by a flock of cavern Elk Birds, but our legendary speardwarf killed one and chased other off.

One of them was caught in a cage.

They tried to attack again but Canalan stayed vigilant.


It's time for elk bird roasts!

I'll take the speardwarf. Since he or she is legendary alaready - a veteran soldier, perhaps even a former officer. A deeply devout warrior who has been sulking and deep in his/her cups refusing to drink alcohol since the royal proclamation. A temple rising would change this.

Adamant on the importance of tactics. Believes combined arms to be the key to victory. Prefers to fight in a huge block of spearmen flanked by units of hammerdwarves and supported by crossbows. highly respects lawmen and would gladly either lead the army or act as sheriff. A man of his word, but unwilling to bend.

Wait. by 'stone dwarfette' you meant Dodok the goddess of justice, not Totmon of the Frothy Crotch. In the latter case... The focus on tactics is still audible, but instead of a love of authority figures, he'd have a 'fight hard, party much, much harder' mentality.

As for temples, it is my belief that most of them should stand separately, though definietly connected by tunnels unless the gods in question lord over opposing and non-complimentary aspects of life. Nearly all should have at least some above-ground portions. This is due to be part of what I hope to see eventually, mind, not what anyone should expect to have made immediately. Save some rather mad dwarves, obviously.
