Oooh, shiny! Sign me up! Can I get a starting dwarf?
Can we decide Professions? Or will you be deciding who/what to bring, and letting us pick from that.

If I can decide, I want a Mechanic. to make Mechanisms. for Rites...
I guess he'd be a  sort of Mechanic-Priest, then? Initiate of The Order of the Holy Gear. So Also some amount of an alchemist, I guess.

(I favour the "lockdown" method of fortressbuilding, but I know that's no fun to read about, so I shall simply remain a loud opponent of wandering about in the open)

I won't lockdown the fort but I will use a lot of traps. We will play with full invaders so it sounds okay for a storytelling. Also I plan to build a lot of shrines in different parts of the map, so it will take a while to move between them, and traps won't save people.

Okay, you're an engineer then. Our nation had some really unlucky rulers. Let me finish it and put it up.

I will allow you to pick profession, but make sure to aim for a specialist. At first we will do various things, but I want to have dwarves specialized as the community grows, not "multitasked".

quick question: Does our civ have access to any cool animals on embark?
Some of those can't be traded for (from our civ) later, unless the new version changed things. Just sayin', a pair of mammoths would be Awesome.

There're no holy orders per se. Remember, you get the list of gods. You are free to interact with each other and form orders/cults, but only during the game.

Wait a bit, I've gathered the needed info, let me design it and show you.

Prologue

Allright folks, just remember what are you doing! We're set on a journey to fulfill a glorious quest! Our atheist queen has issued a mad decree: "There're no gods and the churches are disbanded!"
We can understand her pain, she has lost her parents to a terrifying hydra and her only brother to a war. But that doesn't mean that gods do not exist, they just don't always play with us mortals!
And how dared she to disband our ancient orders and cults? She may believe in noone, but people should have gods to believe in!

We have a goal: we will make an outpost to house the old knowledge of our religion. If there're no more temples in our cities, we will make one!

Grab your scrolls, supplies and honor: we're set!

I hope you can see the image fine. Our nation's currently alive monarch doesn't believe in any gods. As an interesting consequence, she's still alive... Maybe we shouldn't attract gods' attention to live longer? Well, only we can find it out.

Also wait, I should find out if there're dwarves worshipping the said god in our first 7.

I can't really make time to play another sucession fort right now, but can you dorf me as another engineer please?  Name him Canalan with the custom title of "Techno-priest", and enable all engineering labors on him plus architecture.  Two cults of mechanics=awsome.

It will be a community fortress, not a succession fort... Are you sure you want to be an engineer? I won't take more than 1 at first because there're other important professions, and I will start with 1 military dwarf which will become a captain of the guard/leader of War order.

I want to be a mason/carpenter dwarf (whichever you deem more suitable) with the name of StoneNoodle

He has a history of being a mostly unsuccessful stoneworker in his previous home and was on the verge of despair for sucking at carving stuff until one day when he saw this religiously dressed dwarf and it was then that he saw true light. Ever since then, he has been an avid worshipper of his deity, carving out various statues of his god's likeness, until the queen banned all religious artifacts. He has then decided to join the new fort in hopes of expressing his religious beliefs
