I've gotten this many times, but I've always just attributed it to a mild iron deficiency. No iron means no red blood cells, which means oxygen gets around your body at a snail's pace. Standing up fast results in my body needing to adjust to gravity circulating around, and in that adjusting time my head doesn't get enough oxygen, worsened by the low iron.

I have reason to believe they're Vasovagal Syncopes, myself. My trigger seems to be when my core temperature gets too high and I overheat, while I'm standing. My blood pressure drops, my brain is oxygen-starved, I go unconscious, and in what feels like a minute, I'm conscious again... It's kinda like hitting the Restart button on on my brain. I can always feel it coming, but I sometimes haven't noticed that I've passed out, until I recover.

I have also had this. Twice when I overexerted myself when bicycling I've had trouble keeping my head afterwards. I need maybe a minute or so of sitting down to prevent myself from fainting, but my vision gets narrowed, my hearing get worse and I can barely hear anything but myself (which then in turn seems awfully loud) and my body sweats like mad. However I simply attributed both cases of me overexerting myself compared to how much I had eaten previous. Doing a lot of work or taking a lot of pain while not having eaten much is the easiest way to make yourself black out or similar.

I've had something like this, but it doesn't seem to be a vasobagal response.

My vision does not to white or black, but sort of like static on a television. I hear a roaring/hissing/ringing in my ears, I get a bit nauseous and lightheaded, and after a few seconds everything goes back to normal. The odd thing is how it is triggered: when I cock my head to the side (like I'm trying to touch my ear to my shoulder). It only happens on a very few occasions when I do this. I think my brother suffers from this as well, but nobody else seems to.

In your case Ed Boy I believe your problem is caused by your inner ear (or possibly brain). Your likely motion sensative or have a loose brain :P

or otoconias. You might want to get it checked. If it's that (and sounds likely), you can fix it easily. (this applies only to ed boy, in principle)

I should have read the other posts, but can you trigger it? I know getting up fast from a seated or laying down position can cause it, especially looking up. I lost my vision on a roller coaster loop before, though I stayed conscious the whole time.

Try laying down for 10 minutes or so, and spring up and look at the light. If they are isolated incidents, you may have just been shifting positions too quick. It could also be dependent on your blood sugar at the time.

It's more likely a blood pressure/sugar thing than a brain thing.

Well, at least now I know the name for what I had as a kid. Although I only got it from standing up too fast, and characterized it as "all the blood rushed out of my head".

This is Orthostatic Hypotension, or one of the many things exactly like it.
It's very common in young people, and most of the time it'll go away with age.
Sometimes it doesn't, but yeah. You get it from standing up too quickly, so just take your time getting up.

Unless there is a medical doctorate lurking around the community somewhere...but I don't think a doctor could find enough time for DF.

It might not be all the advice you'll get on the Internet, but it is very likely the best you'll get.  Don't mess with what could potentially be a serious issue.  Get a competent diagnosis from a doctor and follow the prescribed treatment plan.  I realize none of us will make it out alive, but there's no sense cutting your lifetime short.

I don't know, I think that someone whose job it is to put people back together all day might enjoy a game in which they're torn apart.

Sadly not. It is all the advice you SHOULD get on (and over) the internet, if people were sensible. But just look at the thread.
