31.13, how to find useful town?

How do I find useful human town? I mean the one with weapon shop, armor shop. Whenever I find gray "+" symbol, it's only bridge. I cannot find # or * anywhere.

Cities don't exist anymore, and thus, neither do weapon shops. Or mountain homes.
I guess we're just out of luck until the next non-fix update.

The current solution is:
1) Generate a world in 0.31.12.
2) Copy-pase /data/save from 0.31.12 to 0.31.13.

You get a normal world with some fixed fortress mode bugs.

How would I do that? I know it sounds weird but in the  "old versions" section the sdl of .12 is in white and I cant click it.

If the site doesn't work report it and download the mayday version, you can use that to gen a world and then go back to the origenal version.

What does the mayday version have besides the tileset? (Which you can get without a whole new download)

There were some issues with the SDL licence not showing up in 31.06 to 31.12 so possibly Toady stopped distributing it. Doesnt stop you from downloading mayday or something though.

As for the broken towns, Deons suggestion is probabaly the only way to get around that untill the actual cities get put back in. Maybe we will get adventurer sites by that time, it should be a pretty low hanging fruit by now.

For some reason this doesn't work for me.

I'm in the inn of a town made in 31.12, I change to 31.13, and then I can't find a single freaking building!

Also, my adventurer lost his name is now just referred to as "wrestler".

All of 40d's light is from its military, 31.12 has light in all aspects but military.

To elaborate on my previous post: it seems the world is the same, but quick travel can longer take you to the actual town but just some small part of the boondocks in the same region tile so you have no way to knowing how to get to the actual town.

Does the wayfinder still point toward the city? Assuming it's not overloaded telling you how to get to a dozen task locations on the other side of the country...

No, it just takes you to the same relatively small, empty square of land as quick travel does.
