Is the Original Post unclear to people somehow? People keep asking this.

That was a tiny session.

But I stabbed an Ettin in the knee and made his head fly off. :I

So there.

I'm the bard. I used Dragonfire Inspiration, and the Ettin charged a readied spear. The pressure from the hit must have sent his head flying. :P

... That sounds like physics worthy of Halo:CE.

If Skyrim has told me anything, it's that games don't have physics. They just toss you entertaining distances, and deal damage however the hell it wants. :P

But, Halo:CE's physics are incredibly deranged.

As in, two Warthogs can be compared to colliding continental plates. One will go under and the other will go flying up in the air, with you praying that the spins and flips will land you on all four wheels.

Two colliding continental plates going at breakneck speeds for continental plates.

Yes. This analogy does assume that they are incredibly small and incredibly fast.

Does anyone else find it funny that a puny little kobold could even kill an ettin in a single hit, disregarding the appendage-physics? Then Vaba killed the other one with three arrows to the knee.

I think we need harder encounters. :P

@Araph: I gave thought to this exact predicament.

Now, Loaw is about 1/6th the height of an Ettin. About the size of a housecat to a human.

Picture your housecat stabbing you in both legs with a flaming longspear the size of a pool cue. That's gonna hurt like Hell, but it's not gonna kill you. The Ettin was running. Imagine you running at full speed, and getting the same treatment. You're going to fall down, really hard, and it's going to hurt.

Now, when a Human falls down, it hurts pretty bad. Say, 200+ pounds, usually equal bruises and cuts. An Ettin...

Quote
Adult ettins are about 13 feet tall and weigh 5,200 pounds.

...If one of those falls dead flat from a run, he's going to break his neck(s), or mangle himself in a hundred other nasty ways. Increased weight and mass are advantageous, but make falls much more dangerous. Mass, Speed, force, collision and all that. :P
