When you say a lot of feats and a lot of gold, are you thinking of an unarmed fighter becoming a viable combatant?

My train of thought was more towards getting natural weapons that are actually good, as opposed to getting my character good at hand to hand combat.

If you have a kind DM you can treat natural claws as unarmed weapons. I'm just not entirely sure what the difference between being good at hand-to-hand combat, and high damage when it comes to natural weapons.

Araph, if you really want good natural weapons you'll need to find ones that grant claws (instead of fists) and build on them. I would highly recommend at least a level in monk, the fist of the forest prestige class, a monk's belt, and maybe a few levels of swordsage for maneuvers. Your claw damage should be quite nice if you build it right.

All weapons suck past level like two. It is what you do with them that matters.

What are the features and requirements of Fist of the Forest? I can't find it online.

So, it's not so much the weapon as how many and how great a variety of bonuses you can pile on it?

EDIT: 'Nother question, this time about monks:
Quote from: d20SRD
At 1st level, a monk gains Improved Unarmed Strike as a bonus feat. A monk’s attacks may be with either fist interchangeably or even from elbows, knees, and feet. This means that a monk may even make unarmed strikes with her hands full. There is no such thing as an off-hand attack for a monk striking unarmed. A monk may thus apply her full Strength bonus on damage rolls for all her unarmed strikes.
If that means that monks can attack with pretty much any limb, does that mean that I could make attacks with multiple limbs in a turn when doing a full attack?

The requirements are:
+4 BAB
+4 Handle Animal, +4 Survival
Great Fortitude, Improved Unarmed Attack, and Power Attack

The only one I see being a problem is Great Fortitude, but the 3 level class gives you your CON bonus in AC when unarmored, a rage like ability, +2 steps of damage whatever you do. There is also a feat in the ToB that improves your unarmed damage as if you were 4 monk levels higher.

If you were a Monk 3/? X/Fist of the Forest 3 with the Superior Unarmed Strike feat, and a Monk's Belt, you'd deal 2d10 damage with natural weapons. Combine that with the spell that increases your unarmed strike to gargantuan size (it exists, but I don't recall the name) and you'll be dealing... 8d8 damage. Awesome.

Why stop at his strike? Lets just make him Colossal and ride around on him.

How about a Tarrasque monk? I think that'd go over well with Shoruke. :P

I'd rather Araph's character fit into the dungeon... Although he could just stomp on the dungeon and crush the enemies inside. :P

Monk levels!
Greater Mighty Wallop!
Monk's Belt!
Heavy Oversized Gauntlets!
Monkey Grip!
Wu Jen Expansion!
More that I can't remember!
12d12 unarmed flurries!
!?!?!?
Profit!

I've made a monk that could punch through trucks before, and all it takes is feats and a few thousand gold. That amount of focus makes you a one trick pony, though. I prefer gishes by far. (As some of you may have noticed.)

Maelrigar certainly makes your preference clear. Actually, I'm thinking of making (assuming Shoruke approves psionics) a psionic gish; a multiclass psychic warrior/monk/maybe-elocater guy.

He shot down psionics for me recently. Maybe if we push hard enough?

Eh. I dunno. If he does not want psionics I can totally understand that.
