I too am glad I won't be able to attend a Friday session.
It's a shame since Pheron has several ranks in Architecture, but really this is one of those things he tends to get all "leaderish" about, and I think that it'd result in blows being exchanged and new characters being required.
In fact... It's probably best that you guys RP in such a manner that Pheron and Van never find out about this one...
(Edit: To rephrase, I am glad that nothing important for my character is going on, not that I will miss it. I wish it was on the weekend anyway.)
(Edit 2: Journal time!
Well, it was an interesting day yesterday... Instead of dropping Vaba off at Eriden, we decided first to toss him out on his ear in the sand. Well some people didn't like that, and once we kicked him off Bote we held a re-vote and offered a different choice, a duel to resolve the issue with Uskton Slek. Well they went off and started fighting. Uskton Slek advanced on Vaba while vaba fired two arrows into him in rapid succession. He then dropped his bow and swung with a great sword he planted in the dirt nearby, but Uskton Slek nimbly avoided the slash. Uskton attempted to land a blow but was unbalanced from the dodging and didn't quite connect. Vaba, tired of swinging a real weapon, dropped the great sword in the sand and recovered his bow, planting two more arrows into Uskton. This seemed to anger Uskton Slek, as his next blow connected in a large way, and looked to have left a nasty gash. Vaba seemed to suddenly not like the injury and went on the defensive, even putting away his weapon. No doubt he was counting on what happened next to save him from his choice to not just leave...
Van Jumped overboard, and Maelrigar shimmied down the rope that was used to let the combatants down into the sand. They were moving to stop the fight. I pulled the rope up and made it clear my opinion of their actions, interrupting honorable combat that both parties had agreed to. Just the same, Tallulah jumped overboard as well, 20' down, to interrupt the fight, and then Kimiko attempted to convince me that getting involved was a good idea. I disagreed, and he jumped overboard as well to interfere. What happened next was unbelievable. Uskton Slek, the clear victor of the conflict, and therefore the individual with the right to decide Vaba's fate, was attacked by a jet of water from Maelrigar.
I thought the orc had some kind of warrior's code. I can't even believe he would do such a thing. It shocks me just writing about it. They then came back and told me about how Uskton Slek had voluntarily agreed to quit the party. I found this doubtful, but Tallulah had made it brutally clear that if I didn't go along with their side of things, we would be fighting. I looked over at Uskton Slek in the distance. He had punched Corina before, and pushed Nael into the magical cauldron, so we weren't really at a loss for losing him, and he didn't appear to be vocally disagreeing with that assessment, so I let it go and allowed everyone who jumped down back aboard Bote. Tallulah then had the gall to say that she healed Vaba but Uskton Slek was unworthy to be healed. I lost my temper a bit there, and chewed her out for her poor morales and ethics. This caused a clear problem, as she has since been threatening to hit me in the head with her stick. I have made it clear I will not tolerate such an action, and will retaliate with my short sword for any attack on her part. She hasn't yet tried me. I think I might have to do so if she does though. I've decided given this group's tendancy to require to lock people up for lengths of time though, some Shackles installed in Bote would be in order. I comissioned 4 sets of shackles made with the best care possible, and found a master locksmith to create devillishly complicated locks for them. I gave the keys to Officer Fendron. I sometimes have to wonder about what is going on in the minds of the crew. I expected the sailors to be gambling on the outcome of the fight like other common porters back west would do, but they just stood at parade rest. How do they view our ways? Is it that different than their own?
Either way, we have five days until the mercenary campaign that our group has signed up for begins. I have given the crew shore leave, and gave them an extra bonus and reward for their work so far. The rest of the group seems to have taken up the offer to stay at the inn. I think I just saw Van stumbling around drunk, he walked up onto another boat and looked to be looking for someone. I was going to call out to him to ask him what he was doing, but he had been yelling in an odd language previously, so I figured he must be looking for someone he knew.
-I inspected the chains we bought for the ship. 32 links on each of the 4 chains, 128 links in all-the third and fouth chains had one more, and one less link, respectively. I spotted structural weaknesses in the 17th, 16th and 13th links of the 1st, 2nd and 3rd chains.
So much for masterwork quality, eh?
Also, SHORUKE--- Make sure to remember in case I forget, the Sailors, Guards, and siege engineer get an extra 5 sp for their actions in helping with the crisis on Bote, and I'll be pulling extra duty to ensure they all get one full day off the ship on shore to spend however they want. They will also be allowed to spend time off the ship for the 5 days we are in port when they aren't standing a watch. Fendron also gets a bonus of 1gp. Heck, I'm feeling generous so even the chef gets 2 sp for his meals. 35 sp + 2 sp + 1 gp = 4g 7s. I've deducted it from my funds.)
