Pheron and Maelrigar get their journal experience. Did I not see some? Usually we have more...

Today's session was less than an in-universe hour long. That fight was interesting. It sat at the intersection of weird, funny, and wrong.
Maelrigar: 440 exp
Ethan: 524 exp
Vaba, Uskton Slek, Mathaf: 594 exp
Tallulah: 540 exp

Also, for loot:
27 gp apiece for the 6 combatants
a climber's kit
a scroll of Burning Hands and Comprehend Languages
a scroll of Levitate, Levitate (not a typo), and Web

It crossed the line from weird to wrong several times, actually. But it maintained funny throughout.

Just think how utterly screwed you guys would have been if I hadn't advised Uskton Slek to take that AoO against Maelrigar, causing his team to rethink their position in terms of charmings... The other half of the group would probably have had to go rescue them next session   :o Isn't it weird when random encounters turn into side quests? Last time that happened, it turned into a several-hundred-mile escort mission.

He'd have to have hit me, first. Anyway, level 6. I'll be leveling up, I'll check back if I pick a weird feat.

Yes, which would have made this session a buildup to something for those of us who had good IC reason to stay on the ship. God damn Prisoners.
I am annoyed about the fact the encounter rolls weren't done.
I would have liked to have seen those rolls, and if there was one that went over 80 you maybe have time to have the battle completely prepared with a new combat map, if you so chose. And maybe there wouldn't have been, and then my journal could consist of something more than a log about how many times Corina was caught poking the naked prisoners with a stick in 10 minutes. Something interesting, like a description of the Combat.

On a different note, Barb, did Mael leave the orb on Bote when he left to get books, or is it with him?

Edit: Also, RP bonus for those of us who are guarding prisoners? That was a long session for us to not get anything, and we all stayed the entire thing (except fool, who cut out a bit early)

I left it in my crate 'o stuff on the Bote, if you want to RP stealing it and studying it. I think I told everyone what it did and where I found it, so you could work that out with Shoruke and write it in your journal if you want.

Anyhow, I was leveling up and ran across a couple variant features to replace a familiar with.

Still looking at feats and such, this is just what I'm looking at in the interim.

Behold how simple and easy it is to save a variable in a Maptools macro*!
Code: [Select]
[h,CODE
:{[macro_name="Saved Variable"]
   [default=0]
}]
[h,if(hasMacro(macro_name+"_Data")==1),CODE
:{[macro(macro_name+"_Data@TOKEN"):""]
   [variable=macro.return]
};{[variable=default]
}]
[h:temp=input("variable|"+variable+"|value to assign to variable")]
[h:abort(temp)]
[h,if(hasMacro(macro_name+"_Data")==1),FOREACH(macro_index,getMacroIndexes(macro_name+"_Data")):removeMacro(macro_index)]
[h:createMacro(macro_name+"_Data","[h:macro.return='"+variable+"']","group=Under")]

*Due to the relyance upon removing** a macro this can only be performed within a trusted*** macro.

**Editing a macro has the same problem and seemed a bit less robust.
***Don't ask...

P.S.
 It may have been a different campaign, but I thought that natural spell was out.
 If you get a companion and then get into the effective level for animal companions cookie-jar without first consulting a qualified D.M. then you can expect to be struck by smited on a regular basis.

 +4 charisma is kind of huge. It doesn't affect your DCs at all, but considering that many sorcerers treat their familiars as a couple of sub-optimal free feats it still seems like a lot...

 I don't think you will be seeing full spellcasting and full BAB on the same class...(I realise that there are spells that do it but they take up combat actions, unless you are getting into the persistent spell cookie-jar...). You may be able to pull for a +2 to hit or something, getting you the same flanking goodness you could get with your familiar but without the massive xp loss...

 I wonder if you could convince the D.M. to let you have an item familiar, it could be statted as an intelligent item with an ego score equalt to, maybe, half your level, maybe 2 or three plus half your level...

The New Sword?

Mage 1: "There was an accident, and we were a little, um, more successful than we thought we'd be."
Mage 2: "Yep. It's your problem now! Goodbye!"
*Both run away after dropping the sword at our feet*

+4 charisma only for the purposes of casting higher level spells, basically. I only have 15 charisma, so it would pretty much just let me cast all the spells most sorcerers can once I get up that high. As for the bonus spells - it might be one or two more than I already have. A familiar, on the other hand, is basically a way to make touch attacks at a distance. Unfortunately I believe Shoruke already shot down Item Familiar... unless he changes his mind.

FEAT FOR REVIEW: Arcane Disciple (Storm). Due to super devotion to Procan, I get the storm domain spells added to my list and can cast 1 of each level once per day.

ALSO: What was the final decision on Leadership?

Working on the journal.

I actually agree with Kogan. I wouldn't mind seeing a journal boost for this session for the Bote team. We stayed on the bote for RPing purposes, but no encounters that I know of were rolled, and we had no turn to speak of during a 5 hour session. If nothing else let Pheron's journal be worth bonus XP. He is far behind Maelrigar and I in XP.

Oh also, I will be posting a journal shortly. Journal posted, and it is LONG (also covers last session).

Well, in the tradition of everyone who failed to have enough happening to talk about, I've got character development.

About the fight... That was wickedly funny. You have two well-dressed women leaning on a building. Suddenly Vaba takes out a bow and shoots not one arrow, not two, but FOUR in rapid succession at these women. The women take flight.
You'd think the party would act to stop Vaba. Nope. They run AFTER the women, calling for them to stop running. Well, Maelrigar jumped in with Vaba in the combat them, but it was in his character. A fight with them isn't much different in his mind as a fight with purple skinned underworlders or whatever.
So, the women, totally panicked, cast sandstorm. Lyca, chasing the women, gets injured by the sandstorm and the fight goes from "Let's chase these women and make them stop so we can apologize and explain why Vaba is actively turning them into pincushions" to "They are hurting Lyca! KILL!!!"
Well, they duck into an alleyway and try a little pedophilia. Well, not quite that extreme, but they do try to grab Uskton Slek (whom is a 21 year old dwarf. A CHILD.) and try to kiss him. They fail, but the kissing on others goes on. Suddenly half the party is fighting the other half. Barb kept trying to find a way to get Mael to kill one even while charmed, but the Shoruke wasn't having any of it. Well somehow an AoO by Uskton against Mael gave everyone a new saves round which allowed Mael to break free. The girls quickly fell, and then the battle was over.

Still, the reason Vaba attacked at all was never addressed by the party. When the girls were subdued it was Maelrigar and Vaba who killed the downed girls, Vaba while he was arguing with Uskton about wrestling.
Tallulah (whom showed up at the end of battle) wanted to sell them into slavery at the Mage's Guild.
Uskton was all in favor of killing them.
Ethan tried to get them to stop killing them, but halfheartedly.
Mathaf was too focued on Vaba's Slimeball comment to really have an opinion about what to do with the girls.

So, interesting encounter. Very funny. Lots and wierd and wrong parts too, but funny throughout!

As usual, Journals can be found here.
