Crap, I was suddenly invited to go to a math team competition as a substitute, so now I'm going to miss the game. I might show up for the very end, depending on when we get back.

I had such great attendance, too.

Hmmm... there's a couple things I'd like to deal with as much as possible before the session starts; namely, finalizing all purchases that people want to make, and creating macros for everyone's passive spot and listen checks so it doesn't take me for goddamn ever.

So I'm putting the server up now; session starts in 31 minutes. In theory. And when you all show up, just ignore the testerbot.

Session is starting... kinda. Also, this thread is now playing host to the "come up with a good name for the party's sandflier" competition. We will have three days of names for the boat, and then I will put up a poll for four days of voting. The ship's name will be finalized next session.

I was thinking of Desert Wind for its speed, but also staying ambiguous enough to use it as the airship name  . I'll post a journal in a day or two.

Desert Wind is already the name of a Weapon of Legacy scimitar. Maybe 'Sand Blaster'? 'The Coarse Courser'?

Alright, here's another edition of Van's Tale:

After a short funeral we headed out in our shiny new ship of steel. Wanting to make a test run we chose to sail to the nearest place on the map the mayor had given us. His notes and depictions led us straight to our first location, the ruins of a large city. The buildings were large, as were the holes that had been made in them as they were set on fire. Whatever had happened here was a truly destructive force. Nael headed for the nearest watchtower and found a watchman’s log. The town was besieged with monsters, a few at first, but then there were more than one could count in a lifetime. Lootings and panic filled the streets as people tried to gather supplies to escape the town, as made evident after Nael and I had searched the city.

   I walked into a potion shop that had largely been untouched by the destruction of the city. After searching the store for supplies that the great commune of Arcadia could use I found potions under the till. As I was putting the potions into my pockets a scream filled the air, it was Corina who had split off from the group in search of her own. After a fields length of running Nael and I had caught up to her. She had found a new friend, a large scorpion, who was merrily running after Corina. As he approached her he became violent and unruly and we had to save her. Her friend, fortunately, was weakened and quickly fell at Corina’s hand.

        As it appears we seemed to have caught her friend in the middle of dinner. We searched the meals pockets and found a note and a map conveniently located on a single scroll. Apparently before becoming a scorpion’s meal he was on a quest to enter the mage guild and search for whatever he could find. While it is noble to do this deed in his stead the 10,000 gold coins and magic items certainly adds incentives for the others. At around this time Nael had asked me for assistance, he wanted me to extract poison from the scorpion. My first experience in collecting poison was disastrous, more poison was on my hands than there was in the vial. A burning sensation fills me and I think I might be sick. Tired from fighting a friendly large scorpion Corina suggested that we turn in for the night and head to the mage guild in the morning. At this point I could only agree with her.

        On the way back to the ship for some rest we encountered a stout man, he was on fire. He seemed calmer than most people who are on fire, a most admirable trait. He requested help in returning home, but said that we could not get there by sandsailer. A most perplexing riddle this is. The Plane of Fire is where he said he was from, but I was unfamiliar with this tract land. Regardless we returned to the ship with our new comrade with promises of searching the area of town that he fell into. There may be a chance that we can simply look up and see the lands that he is from. The burning man was offered a well-lit forge for the night, he accepted and much to my amazement he slept in the fires. We will search the center of town in the morning.

I'm just going to assume that we held the funeral.

Official notice: There's a good chance there won't be a session this Saturday, on account of my possibly being 650 km away from home to visit my last living grandparent, who is likely to die in the next few months.

On the brighter side of things, I thought the session went rather well... except that the group went to the ruins before they had a reason to... oh well, it worked out, you guys got some cheap loot.

I know it's stupid of me, and probably frowned upon, but could I change my character? I just realized that playing a wizard isn't the same as I thought it would be (two weeks ago was the first time I played DnD) and I'd like to switch to something I could actually stick with. At the same time, I don't want to have my character occupy the same role as anyone else's character.

And I'm sorry to hear about your grandparent, Shoruke.
