In other news, I occasionally feel overwhelmed when DMing. You've probably all noticed how much stuff I tend to lose track of. I don't mean to quit by any means, but I do intend to get better, so if you guys have advice on how to do a better job at this, I'd like to hear it.

Vandria Gilmadrith, Lady of Grief. We emerged from the Kobold cave to meet two stone people, they seemed like nice people and gave us a stone to return magically when we finish making our map of the desert. After days in the hot sun we finally were approaching a town, but we were met by a group of strange dog-like creatures. They seemed unresponsive to my offers of rations, and they continued to violently run towards us. To save my friends I stood before the creatures who proceeded to attack me, I had no choice but to kill them. While I may not have been hit by any of their attacks, they injured me in another way. My training at the monastery has prepared me for many things, but the impact of killing another is a wound that never heals; even it helped save another's life. When I get to town I will need to repent by buying food and supplies for the poor and needy. Their grief will be lessened, and hopefully my grief will be forgiven.

Also, you are doing fine, but feel free to use the dm only chat for things like bluff and such so that the player doesn't know that they failed a check. It leads to suspicion and doubt, which can be fun (or not).

We made it through the tunnel, found some golem guards we talked to and learned some not currently useful stuff about how long they had been here, almost forgot that the horses needed endure element spells more then we did, found a city, then got attacked by hyenas before we got to the city. Speaking of Heynas, did we get any EXP from that? I didn't notice any but I got distracted around the time the session ended.

We finally managed to get through that tunnel yesterday. It feels good to see the sun again, though I must wonder if we are getting too much of a good thing. None of my relatives will believe me when I tell them how hot it is. By the Nine Dooms, I wouldn't believe me if I hadn't been here myself. I have no idea how the people who lived here managed to deal with the heat. Speaking of dealing with the heat, I'm worried about the animals here. We got attacked this evening by a pack of wolf equivalent. I think they were called hyenas back in those old books I found when I was researching for this trip, but I don't remember for sure. But more on the subject, I have to wonder how scarce the food here is if they would risk attacking a larger party of unhurt animals when they didn't appear to be too wounded to do their normal hunting. Are the animal life here really so desperate for food? I suppose we shall find out if we stay here for much longer.

As for advice... you seem to be doing ok from what I have seen. The Fool was right about the PM thing, that can make the game funner when used with common sense.

After coming out of that cave we have come across "The Desert" as the golems who guarded our path called it. It is dreadfully hot here and most of us have to stay in the shade on the wagons or otherwise overheat in the heat. We traveled for several days within the desert in hopes of finding civilization. On the last day we finally came upon a city which we could see on the horizon. However before we could begin our journey towards the city we were beset upon by a pack of strange dogs. Being the dashing Wizard that I am I tried to persuade one of my fellows to befriend the animals, however they outright refused the proposition of being my pet and began to attack us of all things.

Being the dashing Wizard that I am a few well placed Magic missiles and a bit of slippery grease set them in their places. To bad that no useful ingredients could be gathered from their corpses. For now however we have another days travel ahead of us.

The battle was worth 220 exp for Nael and Van, and 200 for Tallu, Baradine, Finni, and Mysteller if I am not mistaken.

The fight was worth 220 exp to everyone who participated, excluding Tallulah, who earned 200. (those who are present for the entirety of a fight earn +10% exp; this encourages people to pay attention, and makes everyone level up a little bit faster than normal that way I want them to).

Van, Tallulah, and Nael have received their journal experience.

Also, I think that I'll move the "standard session time" back a couple hours on Saturdays. At the very least, this will allow The Fool to show up on time regularly, and it seems that the normal time is quite early for some people (like RAM), so yeah. Game at 11:00 PM GMT on Saturday.
