Whirling Blade. Lets you make a melee attack on everything in a 60' line. Shoruke just added the sticking thing. It was pretty good when everyone only got a single attack, but it's not so useful anymore. Maybe if I learned Shape Spell...

Why the heck do you have two greatswords Barba?
Did I mention that I have been purposely shooting myself in the feet all this time? A sorcerer who dual-wields weapons with monkey grip at large penalties to himself, wears moderate amounts of armor at the cost of spellcasting, and is an orc. Seems to work fairly well at the lower levels, but I seriously doubt he'd be so unbalanced at level 15.

There's no way to dual wield greatswords with monkeygrip.

Unless the GM (knowingly or not) changes the feat to allow that.

Edit: Because it is not like overpowered or anything, and no one is going to take a epic feat for that.

Actually... with Monkey Grip greatswords are considered one handed martial weapons. Technically you can dual-wield them, but you'd take a -2 on top of the normal dual-wielding penalties.

EDIT: I'm wrong.

No. A medium greatsword is still two handed. It would only allow you to use a large greatsword.

Also it does not even effect your off hand.

Yep. I just read that. I didn't reach the edit button fast enough.

I always thought it allowed it, but I'm mistaken. I even had a character based on the idea once.

That said, he could be using a large longsword. But then of course he would be taking a -2 at all times, even when not duel wielding. And once again... Does not effect off hand.

Edit: Also. No real harm in allowing it. I mean... No. He would be as he said shooting himself in the face if he tried to use it. Even with the duel wielding feat he has a... -4 on the main hand and like -8 on the off hand.

Well. He has no feat like that...

Also, tangent to this: How do you have proficiency with the Greatsword Barba?

Let me know if I missed anything.

1. Proficiency: Battle Sorcerers are allowed proficiency with a single martial weapon of their choice. I forgot to take this into account with the axe, so someone else can have that if they like. (I will continue to use my other greatsword.)

2. Monkey Grip: here's the text from Sword and Fist, the only Monkey Grip I know of.

Quote
Monkey Grip
[General]
You use a wider variety of sizes of weapons.
Prerequisites: Base attack bonus +3, Weapon Focus with the appropriate weapon, Str 13+.
Benefit: You can use one melee weapon that is one size larger than you in one hand. For example, a halfling with the Monkey Grip feat can use a medium longsword in one hand. You suffer a -2 penalty on your attack roll when using this feat. This feat can be taken multiple times, each time with a different weapon.
Normal: Only weapons of your size or smaller can normally be wielded with one land. [Presumably this means hand, but a literal interpretation could be fun.]
(I didn't see anything about this only effecting the primary hand. If this was errata'd later, let me know.)

3. Other Feat Questions: My character sheet appears to be somewhat out of date down there. When I rejiggered my character earlier to have different feats and spells so that he could help the party more instead of being a one-orc army. Here is what my spells/feats should look like.

Feats
Combat Casting
Weapon Focus (Greatsword)
Monkey Grip
Oversized Two Weapon Fighting
Flaw (Shaky)

Where battlecaster was removed before so that he could not go full-on tankmage in the future with mithral battleplate.

Spells
0: Create Water, Detect Magic, Launch Item, Prestidigitation, Message, Light
1: Fist of Stone, Lesser Orb of Electricity, Bladeweave, Geyser
2: Whirling Blade, Gust of Wind, Wraithstrike, Freezing Ray
3: Shark Bolt, Bands of Steel

Now, upon reflection, I seem to have fucked up on the prerequisites for Two-Weapon Fighting, and thus will find a different feat to use for this. In the meantime, I will use a single weapon.

Note that this would not have made a difference in the last fight, the only one where I even tried using more than one weapon at a time, because both hits were natural 20's, and the confirmation roll that wasn't a 20 would have been high enough to hit regardless due to the unaccounted-for charge bonus on the first attack.

On the other hand, does anyone want a +1 Greatsword? I'd swap for a shield.

1: Any Light or one handed weapon.

2: Sword and Fist is not actually a rule book for the game we are playing. Monkey Grip is in complete warrior.

3: I am almost 100% sure you can not take those feats. Since you did not meet the needed... What is it called? Starts with a P... at the time you would have taken some of them.

Edit: yes. You need at least +1 BAB bonus on 3/4 of those feats. You got two feats at level one, when you had a bab of +0. Also I think you need TWF before you get oversized TWF.

Gack, accidentally wrote down OTWF instead of TWF.

1. Greatswords are one-handed here. I could instead call this 'Longswords' if you like and change my weapons to be large ones now, they would do the exact same damage.

2. I recall Monkey Grip being specifically requested at some point, I didn't know it was in there. I'll compare the two. (Sword and Fist appears to be a 3.5-usable book, according to this.)

3. Here's how it happened.

Level 1: Combat Casting, Endurance.
Level 2: Combat Casting, Endurance
Level 3: Combat Casting, Endurance, Weapon Focus
Level 4: Combat Casting, Weapon Focus, Endurance swapped for Monkey Grip (retraining)
Level 5: Combat Casting, Weapon Focus, Monkey Grip
Level 6: Combat Casting, Weapon Focus, Monkey Grip, TWF
Level 7: Combat Casting, Weapon Focus, Monkey Grip, TWF

Now, the TWF is a problem and I'm working on fixing that.

PS: You're looking for 'prerequisite'.

1: You should do that, because it actually does matter in this case. Because it will cause you to take a -2 to all your attacks when using a large longsword as opposed to a greatsword.

2: That is interesting. But since it was later reprinted completely differently, I think you would need at least the GMs approval to use the old one. It seems likely to me that 3.0 monkey grip was okay until they made CW. On the other hand, perhaps they meant for there to be two. In which case I guess there is not a issue. (But they should have called one something else.)

Well, I have been taking the -2 penalty for using the feat. I'll change the names, though.

Hey, Shoruke, can I take the magic barding for my horse?
Yeah, it even auto-resizes to fit!

Also, just a heads up, the server is going to be up 15 minutes before game time at the very earliest, due to homeworks... so don't get worried if you don't hear from me all day >.>
