EDIT²: turns out that walking into the living quarters of a church is a very fast way to earn the ire of several clerics all at once. So is stealing. Who'd have thought? What will the group do next time? FIND OUT NEXT WEEK, ON EAST MARCHES. (or maybe even this week, we're still going  )

In retrospect, I probably should have used the Janni instead. Then more than two of them might have survived the surprise round. Valuable lesson to the players in how well Total Surprise rounds work, though.

I begin to mistrust the cunning of my comrades. Saxon, a young rogue we managed to find, managed get himself caught stealing in broad daylight. I am dismayed that it did not occur to him, nor to any of the others, to do even the most basic scouting beforehand, nor to enter by night, rather than by day. It is as if they did not consider the possibility of guards.

I, myself, walked openly into the back room of the temple, disguised as a wandering pilgrim of the Silent God, and managed to complete our objectives myself. There is nothing worthy of further investigation back there, not with twenty or more clerics in there at any given time. I suspect there may well be more present than meets the eye, but telling the others of this suspicion will only encourage them to make fools of themselves of it, and perhaps even bring ruin to me. I will have to steer them away from such error, for their own good.

In more pleasant news, I have managed to find a vendor of soporifics and purchased a few. Perhaps this will satisfy the party's demands that we take out enemies alive, rather than melting them with acid. We also managed to earn a fair bit of coin assiting some mages with fire mephits, so I will not count the day as a complete loss.

We were apparently contacted to do a little early mission by our mercenary liaison. Apparently we were supposed to defend some wizards while they preformed a ritual to get some war golem materials. Kimiko came to get me from Bote for this mission. I had to ask one of the men who was resting to take an extra watch. He didn't seem too happy with the situation with me having to go back on my word, but I explained to him that it was required for our mission in Eriden. I told him I'd make sure he was given the time I promised him, and he seemed to be okay with that. We got down to the site of the ritual. The wizards said protect them from whatever came through. They started chanting and out of the sky six elemental men came out. We immediately attacked them, figuring them to be planer invaders bent on killing our charges. We quickly defeated them. I backed off and let the others deal with the creatures. I figured we'd be taking prisoners again, although it's not wise to leave so many enemies alive. I'm not quite sure why people like to fight their foes again and again. Either way, the elemental men were treated, and then one instructed the wizards in a change in their spell. They disappeared with the change, and a pot containing some kind of liquid fell out of the portal where they went into. This seemed to complete our task, as the wizards stopped their activities.

At last. It has been some time since I was sent out into the world by my master, and at last I am able to serve.

Today was not my proudest day.

My sins are many. I attacked a helpless enemy, and worse than that. This enemy was in fact a civilian caught in the crossfire. I must undergo a penance, and for the next month, I will not use my weapons, I will rely on my diplomacy and my hands to keep me alive.

I did, however, help another person. When he was captured by priests of Boccob for...
For STEALING from them... My group persuaded them to let him pay off the debt from the theft, and I was able to use my money for good.

Now I must be even more of a paragon of goodness and lawfulness. I have two people who are corrupted by their baser natures, and I must set an example for them, to lead them to goodness and justice.

In Heironeous' name, I shall prevail, no matter the odds.

I still have a debt to the temple of Heironeous. 470 gp must be paid unto them. I have the money, now I simply have to get it to them. By Heironeous, tomorrow it will be done.

A more curious thing... It seems that one of our party is a necromancer....


He already has been deeply corrupted, suspecting even a priest of betraying their deity. I shall have to keep my distance from him, lest his corruption affect me too.

So how did the raid go? I hear someone was captured, but I also heard that it worked. In case anyone was worried, the transplant was a success.

Tenpros, in the morning tried to steal a potion. In the aftermath, Kimiko is detecting evil, finds only our party to have evil in it, and then goes into the back room under the pretense of trying to go to the bathroom and being on a pilgrimage/under a vow of silence/unable to hear. In the back room, there are beds, an altar, and an assload of clerics. With the altar being perfectly normal and the clerics not being evil, we decided "Screw it" and went on the side quest mentioned earlier.
