Of course, the games would be horrible with Activision.

But hey, at least they didn't get Valve to sign a contract.

God forbid.

At least Activision isn't touching Halo.

At least they won't be making more Halo games...  Right?

No, Microsoft owns the copyrights.

Big Team Battle is by far the best playlist / gamemode / whatever. Nearly everything on it is just such great fun.

...except Team SWAT. Fuck SWAT and every variation.

Huh, I didn't think Elite Slayer was bad.
I usually end up with people not spamming grenades.
And when I get stuck I just end up using an Armor Lock.

Isnt elite slayer just slayer but everyones an elite?

I quite enjoyed all the game types with lots of people( not a big fan of objective). It hilarious in invasion slayer when this one 7 year old was capturing the circle by himself and then you go in and steal his wraith, he gets his mic and screamed his head off and swears trying to be cool.

Me and my mate played normal invasion at boneyard ( i think ), we were the best players in the room, every team we go on we won and our team all fight over who goes on the ghost and banshee or whatever. I got the core (as an elite ) ran all the way up the stairs dodging bullets, grenades and a scorpion and died inches away from the destination zone. Me and my mate died at least 10 times trying to get it to the end and i finally took out their tank, 30 seconds left on the clock a team mate picks up the core and starts running the other way! we followed him telling him to go back but he wouldn't listen so my mate killed him with the energy sword and we got booted...

Also i love invasion, just wish more people would play objective and not fool around and run in circles.

Yes

And big team battle is quite amazing, except the little kids... invasion is awesome too.

Elite slayer doesn't have armor lock.

I remember my very first matchmaking game. It consisted of me fighting a couple ten or twelve year old kids who were playing split screen, and whom I beat conclusively, with comments of "Why didn't he die, I shot him like ten thousand times!" and the like, until they concluded I must be hacking and quit.

Swat is fun!

SWAT is hands-down the worst gametype. It's not so much a deathmatch as it is 'slow as fucking balls die to the first guy you've seen in 5 minutes in 3 seconds, repeat'. The pacing of a SWAT game just goes so completely against everything else in the Halo games. It turns it into a twitchfest where the ultimate winner is the person who camps the most, has the fastest connection, and is 6 months younger than you. It doesn't reward creativity, it doesn't reward unorthodox tactics, it doesn't reward playing a game for fun. It's everything that's wrong with every other 'competitive FPS' out there in one of the last franchises that hasn't forgotten that games don't have to be good, but they do have to be fun. I'm sure there are people out there who enjoy it, but god damn, Halo is not the game to be playing this sort of match in.

Thank god the SWATs are all getting out into their own playlist in a week or so. And Rocket Race is being re-introduced. Now there's a gametype that is utterly and totally bullshit, but in a fun way.

I'll agree that SWAT is kind of a "twitch or die" thing, but I like it because I usually win... plus I'm good with headshots, lol.

but Rocket Race is epic and I'll probably be playing that more than Swat eventually

SWAT is very unlike the rest of Halo but still fun- you don't search for weapons, you have to move fast AND know the map (or at least know it as well as your opponent) and you basically win by seeing your opponent first. This also makes it more prone to dominant strategy. On the other hand, no getting raped by the guy who found the rocket launcher (or memorized its spawn point before you).

Also no damage race is lame. I pretty much just play it split screen with ghosts and no shield regeneration.

Doubles Arena is a hellhole. My buddy doing it with me ditched me right at the beginning of the match. Of course, it forced me to think instead of just play like an imbecile. My sneaky-sneak tactics won me the match, against all odds.

I saved the hell out of that video.

For Doubles Arena, you really do need a friend to help you.
Or at least you'd have good communication with the random.

I'm not gonna start on Team Arena.
