Or, alternatively, if you actually look at the models during the cutscenes, you can clearly see Noble-6 and others wearing a bulky backpack with "Re-Entry Pack" written on them.

Also, I just got "If You Came To Hear Me Beg" Achievement. I piled my corpses high at the foot of that cliff as some foul monument to Gamerscore. Took me 60 odd tries, at least.

The re-entries in both Halo 3 and Reach are, let's face it, completely unrealistic, magicool gel layer or not. The important factor is how long it took for the Spartan to decelerate completely- locking your armour would actually make it take *less* time, which is a bad thing. If Master Chief/Noble Six had landed in about a kilometer of marshmallow, they *might* have survived, but as is, they should just be so much cyborg jelly.

I got the achievement where you assassinate an elite to while falling from a height that would had killed you. I lots of cloned Spartans died trying to accomplish this.

The Spartan II ( i think ) have this thing injected into them they become like super power and their bones are unbreakable, massive growth in muscles, faster reaction times etc. But your a spartan III so your more badass than the spartans II.

Damn straight, even assassinating an Elite at all is difficult because those Elites seem to have eyes on the back of their heads or are excellent at hearing. And those darned grunts they have don't help. 9 out of 10 times I try to assassinate an Elite I end up dead. Mostly due to that Elite and his annoyingly good ability to notice me coming and one-hit kill punch. I say unless you're amazingly good at assassinations don't even bother trying to assassinate an Elite.

Tarran has the "Tarran Bug", a bug which causes the affected character to repeatedly hit teammates while dual-wielding instead of whatever the hell he is shooting at.

I'm one hundred percent sure that what you said is just from the game itself.

Spartan 2's were the designed especially for bursting into combat guns blazing, but the originals were meant for fighting other people, not aliens. Their bones are not unbreakable, and they don't have extremely large muscles despite the augmentation. I doubt their reaction times are that much better than a regular marine also.

Spartan 3's, on the other hand, were more like ODST's, they're meant for Spec Ops, but can take the brunt of the fighting when needed. One of the only reasons that Six is as good as the Overly-Lucky Master Chief is because he received an extremely similar powered armor suit, and had similar training, combined with the overly difficult missions also training him.

Nah I read the halo pedia thing. They kidnapped 75 6 to 7 year old children and trained them. When they were 14 they did the biological augmentation which only 33 survived, 30 died and 14 was severely crippled.

Heh, and 6 survived the drop because he was wearing equipment made for EVA activity. Watch the cutscene again, watch carefully as 6 is about to jump.

Well it actually depends on what you're wearing.
If you pretty much stripped down your armor to the bare essentials...

Er, no. The Spartan II's WERE genetically enhanced with much stronger bones, they have enhanced strength, and as for reaction time...One of the Chief's squad mates was capable of grabbing bullets out of the air.

Spartan II's were kidnapped as children and indoctrinated into being loyal soldiers. They were given all sorts of drug, gene, implant and chemical treatment that made them super strong, fast, smart, resilient, etc. They were created to act as elite operatives in dismantling the rebel groups that were appearing due to the UNSC's inability to effectively govern such a huge number of colonies. Essentially, super-assassins.

When the Covenant attacked they were given a more direct combat role, but still focused on assassinating leaders, retrieving artifacts, and blowing up ships. They were given the powered armour that we all love, which made them even more awesome.

Over time it was realised that the Spartan II's were dying off too quickly, and the cost was too much to make more of them. Thus, Spartan III's were made to be cheap and expendable supersoldiers.

Spartan III's were made from adults from destroyed colonies, given a quick upgrade, and given equal or worse armour. Overall they were worse in every way, but much cheaper and easier to make. Noble Team was unusual in that they had shielded armour, though that could have been because they were on Reach and had easier access to high technology. Jorge was actually a Spartan II, though.

All spartans can survive planetary landings because their suits have built in hydrostatic gel. Also, if six died, then people would question about why cheif survived the fall in 3

Actually, it was because the members of Noble Team were an elite group of Spartan IIIs and thus they were given Mark V MJOLNIR armor since they were less expendable. Not because they had easier access to the armor. If that were the case, the Spartan IIIs on the last level Lone Wolf would've likely been wearing MJOLNIR armor too.

Sorry, wrong.  SPARTAN-III's were made from ORPHANS of destroyed colonies.  They were given the same augmentations as the SPARTAN-II's but with upgrades for the Gamma-class, and with a much lower mortality/injury rate (read, 0% as compared to around 60% for the SPARTAN-II's).  They were all, however, given inferior armor since that was the majority of the cost of the S-II program that was holding them back from mass production.  Except Noble Team, apparently, since they had SPARTAN-II equivalent armor.

Read Ghosts of Onyx for the full story of the Spartan III's, and Fall of Reach for the full story of the Spartan II's.

EDIT: Oh, and Noble 6 did indeed have a "Re-entry pack" on him when Jorge threw him out of the Corvette... probably grabbed one from the Sabre beforehand.

I'm a total complete Halo nerd so any questions can be directed at me.  /shameless self-promotion
