Kat's death was horrible. Needle rifle? No way, I don't care if the theory is that her shields weren't on because of the glassing. It didn't show the shields cut out therefore I'm annoyed.
Yeah, not only that, but why the frick was a sniper waiting for them while the city was being glassed? Why did the sniper wait for Kat instead of firing on Carter or someone else that came out earlier? Why did no-one even take a peek at the big frigging hole in the ceiling?

Yeah, that's kinda a non-spartan mistake.  If you're a freak like me who read everything about the backstory of the SPARTANs and their training, you'll realize that they would've known better.

As for Jun, we're not quite sure if he's dead or not, since apparently he was escorting Halsey to CASTLE base or something... but it's safe to assume he died since he wasn't in the First Strike novel.

Another discontinuity I want to point out is how Halsey supposedly didn't know about the SPARTAN-III's till after the events of Halo 2 (as per Ghosts of Onyx novel) when she interacted with Noble... you'd think she'd notice if five extra SPARTANs showed up out of nowhere that she didn't train (Jorge was a S-II)

Hey, in that promo video where the previous Noble-6 bought the big one (pulling a 'Jorge'), Kat lost her arm to an aerial attack. So perhaps it's just one of her failings that she has little situational awareness when it comes to thinking vertical. And I suppose the sniper waited for her because either he noticed that she had her shields down, or he simply waited for the weakest-looking (she was being helped along by Noble 6) and took a chance. I doubt the sniper was 'waiting' for them any more than it was waiting for any other targets that had survived the initial salvo to come out - anyone who survived would have been disorientated, possibly already injured, and if they had any wits left to them, would make an immediate beeline to anywhere that they thought would be 'safe' - which is where more potential survivors would also be. So send out a couple of sharpshooters or scouts, and you can up the killcount a bit, or at least do a little spotting for more glassing salvos.

Tactically sound, except for the getting yourself killed part.

Note, Jun isn't dead. Developer commentary says so.

Go Asians!

Also, if any of the Army Troopers survived during Long Night Of Solace, which definitely happened for me, what the hell happened to 'em?

They likely stayed behind with Jorge since the Sabres were inaccessible and they likely couldn't survive falling back to the planet (unlike Six and his invisible shield of badassery).

Tarran has the "Tarran Bug", a bug which causes the affected character to repeatedly hit teammates while dual-wielding instead of whatever the hell he is shooting at.

His MIA which means his 'probably' dead. Most Spartans aren't listed as KIA because they want to make an image that Spartans never die. And i think somewhere in the Dr. hansly diary ( in the heroic and legendary edition )it mentions Jun dying protecting her later on.

He could had armor locked so he wont take any damage.

I doubt an Armor Lock would be able to stop a Slipspace bomb of DESTRUCTION.
You know what pretty much decimated all the surviving ground troops in New Mombasa?
A Slipspace Rupture.

I mean, seriously.
One ripped a Covenant Supercarrier in HALF. In Halo Reach of course.

Also apparently, it can blow up a Forerunner Shield World.

Problem is not just the impact, it's the heat that builds up while you're falling through an atmosphere. And since Armor Lockup is limited, if he used it right before he hit the ground he would likely be red hot by the time he hit the ground from falling. If he used it while he was falling, he would hit the ground without Lockup.

I doubt an Armor Lock would be able to stop a Slipspace bomb of DESTRUCTION.
He was talking about Six and his orbital reentry. Not Jorge.

It wasn't the slipspace rupture that blew it up, it was the supernova it apparently caused.

Ahh, that explains it. Guess Six did have an invisible shield of badassery gel to protect him.
