Add SPEED:9001 to their creature entry in creature_standard.txt and they should shut up fast. Well... very slowly. Note that they'll be completely and utterly useless like this, and I haven't tested the side-effects of making things ridiculously slow.

Alternatively, just remove their legs from the body line.

Would that make a cat garden?

Cage them where you want them, then release from cage and deconstruct it. Now you have immobile cat garden.

Give that a syndrome dust that only effects cats. Make it rot their nervous tissue.

If you make them move too slowly, they will not move, not move, not move, not move... then suddenly teleport off at a ridiculous speed. this is at [SPEED:100000].

It's probably made from baby bone, with a handle of baby leather. Probably uses the leg bones wound together for the handle, the pelvis for the handle/pick joint, and the pick is the spine.

But that's all in theory, of course. Not like I've made a pick out of my own 5 month old baby before.

Along the syndrome idea, instead make cats produce a syndrome which puts them to sleep.  If they are always passed out, then the pathfinding code never gets run for them at all.  When they are slow, DF will still need to calculate paths for them every time, so you get no performance increase.

Remove legs, and brain, so they cannot move, and no pathing FPS drop.

actually...a narcolepsy syndrome sounds about like every cat I've ever had...pinging off the walls one minute...then passed out hanging off the back of the couch for the next 4 hours...

Or just remove the vermin hunter tag and cats should act like any other animal, no?

The only reason people don't like them is they become pets and keep breeding, and you cannot do anything about it. The best you can do is kill the kittens early before they're adopted too.

Build a cat processing plant, which removes their legs without killing them.

Way to dumb it down. This is DF, that would be too easy!

Build a cat processing plant, which removes their legs without killing them.
Make it so that there are no blood vessels in their legs and they'll survive having them cut off.
