Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood
« on: September 14, 2010, 03:54:59 pm »

http://xbox360.gamespy.com/xbox-360/assassins-creed-ii-episodes-project/1120310p1.html

Releases Nov. 16.

The new video, which displays some new stuff from the SP campaign, is pretty sweet. I'm pretty stoked all around. Not so much for the MP (I'd rather play with friends than online-stealth-kill-fests), but just for more AC content. Of course, I fully expect the next round of stupid DRM decisions from Ubi as well, so I'll probably be waiting to see how the release shakes out, and what others uncover.

Its kinda silly to complain that a friendly NPC isn't a well designed boss fight.

If it's like "The Boat" I might buy it for the MP content. Buuut I bet it will use games for windows live and matchmaking, so that pretty much ruins everything.

AC always was kinda crappy.

They have the coolest concept of them all. Even a ... I dont know... rock with a string to it attached, dipped in butter (or anything random and brainless for that matter) should be able to make a killer game out of that concept.

But noooooo, they manage to turn this into a bland and uninspired borefest. How they pull that off is really beyond me. I think it has something to do with stupidity.

From what I hear it sounds amazing, and judging by how much better 2 was over 1, I'm pretty confident in it being a good game. There seems to be some kind of tactical/strategic aspect to it, and the multiplayer reminds me of a game they play on campuses that I can't remember the name of.

Oh my god, I didn't know anyone else knew about that game, it's so awesome. Getting the right ratio of rock size to butter coverage is so amazingly fun, especially when the termites come into play, but I always had trouble impressing that one last judge.

Absolutely one thing went through my head when I saw this. My thought? "Lolwut? I should read that again for clarity."

I still lack clarity.

Pnx is confused.  He meant that a buttered rock-on-string could make a better game out of the AC concept.  Pnx thought he was talking about an actual game.

Its still going to be a horrible multiplayer. Its cool in concept, but you know what happens the second my fellow xbox users will do when they get it.

They'll just be running at eachother and hoping they press the kill button first. None of that stealth nonsense.

All I've seen of MP so far is people leaping off of roofs, moving up behind someone and shiving them, or chasing them until they hit one of those chase breaker gates. I haven't seen any actual fighting between two people. So that's all it might be.

AC isn't really about fighting, its about shanking people and not getting yourself shanked in the process.

Well yeah, its just the immersion is going to be totally killed if the players end up just sprinting everywhere

What immersion?  You, the player, are the one sprinting just about everywhere in singleplayer mode(too slow otherwise...).  Why can't other people?   Immersion = Player is da special guy?

And hey, more power to the player sprinting everywhere in multiplayer mode and managing to live longer then other players.
Do you really expect immersion in multiplayer... do you?

The immersion of a squad of futuristic assassins using some complicated VR machine to train their minds to murder people in a computer simulation of someones inherited memories of the past?

That VR machine is really immersive though.

AC isn't really about fighting, its about shanking people and not getting yourself shanked in the process.

Shank is fun and all, but the most satisfying weapon in AC(2) is the maul.

I'm little doubt that the game itself will be very good.  AC2 was fantastic (aside from the part where they cut out two whole chapters of the game to release it in time for the holidays and then half-assedly patched them together to sell as DLC later).  But I still can't help being annoyed by all this stupid pre-order bonus crap.
